Unless you’re Patrick Star and living under a rock, you know one or two things about the biggest annual sports event in the USA. The Super Bowl is a long awaited event that’s happened almost every year since 1967. This year was the 59th annual game, and the whole city was on the edge of its seat. Our very own Philadelphia Eagles went all the way to the top this year, to play against the Kansas City Chiefs, who have won the Super Bowl two years in a row. We played them two years ago, and unfortunately lost, but after an, honestly, anticlimactic, game, the Eagles beat the Chiefs, 22-40.
The Kansas City Chiefs, for the past few years, have been the unbeatable team. With their quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, being considered as one of the greatest of all time, and their vast views for every game, they have made a name for themselves. However, the Eagles have two things that the Chiefs don’t. For one, they have the most insane fans in the league. Superbowl related deaths and injuries are relatively rare, but Philadelphians wasted no time risking their lives for the Birds. (Seriously, greasing the light poles is doing nothing.) Secondly, we have a modern day football Jesus, Saquon Barkley.
Having originally played for the New York Giants, one of Philadelphia’s biggest rivals, this year, he has had one of the best seasons that we’ve ever seen. From making history with his backwards hurdle, to setting a new record for single-season rushing yards (2,005, to be exact), he has quickly become one of the strongest players in the NFL.
After 3 and a half hours of tragedy for the Chiefs, their hopes of winning three championships in a row were thankfully crushed. Throughout the whole game, they scored almost no touchdowns, going into halftime with 0 points. They only started to really score when we removed Hurts, Barkley, and our other best players, and put in our B-team. In front of hundreds of millions of people across America, the Chiefs became national embarrassments, and the Eagles took home one more trophy.
