Another Express

The Polar Express was made and animated by Robert Zemeckis, and is one of the most notable animated, family holiday movies. The 2004 film is about a young boy (never named) who’s growing increasingly skeptical of Santa Claus. On Christmas Eve night, a train to the North Pole arrives outside his home and the boy takes it. Throughout the film, he learns the true meaning of Christmas, friendship, and what it means to believe. This theme isn’t rare as it’s seen in most children’s holiday movies, like The Christmas Chronicles and all 800 The Santa Clause movies.

Over 20 years after its initial release, it’s been confirmed that a Polar Express 2 is in development. Academy Award winner, Tom Hanks, plays a crucial role in the first movie as he takes on 5 characters and voices. It’s highly speculated that he’ll be reprising his role as the protagonist – Chris, hopefully along with many others. There’s not much information about the development or release date yet, however with animation taking so long, the trailer most likely won’t be until 2026.  Considering the success and devoted love to the original The Polar Express, fans are skeptical the sequel will live up to its predecessor but hope is alive.
