MyVision is a student-run theatre group here at Capa. Caitlin Tobin, Jaylen Carpenter, Veolla Bici, Amelia Carnahan, and theatre teacher Dr. Goebig are the leaders of MyVision and have dedicated themselves to making it a creative and unique space for all students. MyVision was not started recently though, it has actually been around for almost two decades!
It was started in 2006 by Josh Wilder, a former theatre major who did a summer intensive where he was asked to create a theatre that was different from anything you were usually surrounded by. When Wilder came back to CAPA in the fall, he brought the idea of MyVision to Dr. Goebig as a new kind of theatre that wasn’t done at CAPA. So now after 18 years of amazing performances and stories, MyVision is still going strong and has a show every year.
One of the best things about MyVision is that any student can audition! Doesn’t matter the grade or your major, anyone can audition to be a part of the amazing shows that they put on.
The audition process is three days long starting from November 20th to the 22nd.
The first day of auditions is centered around learning what MyVision is and fun theatre games. The second day of auditions is monologues/shows of talent and the third day is interviews.
MyVision is not your average theatre group, as said by Caitlin Tobin, “It is meant to provoke thought, and to step outside of your comfort zone of what is traditionally seen as school theatre.” So, if you're looking for a new artistic space, MyVision might be the place for you!
