Preparing for Prom!

Prom season is coming up, folks! The theme for the 2025 Junior Prom is “Night at a Masquerade”, featuring colorful garments, mysterious coverings, and a night of dancing and fun. The theme for the 2025 Senior Prom is “Night with Nosferatu”. The horror film, with a 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, is mostly known for its strange, uncanny scenes and energy. For those unaware, the hit blockbuster vampire movie Nosferatu starring Lily-Rose Depp and Bill Skarsgard, is a horror movie taking place in 1830s Transylvania. The senior prom committee decided on this theme due to its “mysterious and dark” nature. But why Nosferatu specifically? Why not make the theme vampire and call it a day?

“I have a lot of senior friends who feel very differently about the theme. Some feel like it’s different and gives them a chance to step out of their comfort zone and try a new style, whereas on the other hand a gothic look doesn’t fit everyone’s preferences or isn’t accessible to everyone… you can never win when it comes to these things, no one’s ever gonna all agree on one thing”. Says Maddie Baylor, a Junior theatre major at CAPA, as well as a member of the prom committee. When asked about the process behind the choosing of, “Night at a Masquerade” for the Junior prom theme, she answered; “You’ve gotta look back on old proms and see what themes have been done, do we have decorations still available for this, had anything like this been done before. It's impossible to have everyone agree on one thing but we tried our best to pick a theme that was both universal and unique”.
