Throughout Unit My Future, you will design a Google Site by completing various class activities, however, sections of the task will be completed outside class.
Your Google Site should be a portfolio of your class work and educate fellow Year 9 students on various aspects of career pathways, securing employment and contributing effectively in the workplace.
During your lessons in Term 3 Week 4 and Term 3 Week 6 your teacher will conduct progress checks.
You should use the Bibliography Format Guide for recording your sources of information.
This unit requires students to investigate possible career pathways and further study options and to examine potential impacts on personal health related issues. Focus is placed on learning skills and understanding policies and practices that are important for securing positions and contributing effectively in career and further study environments.

Learning Intention: We will be able to construct a professional resume.
The purpose of a resume is to provide a summary of your skills, abilities and accomplishments. It is a quick advertisement of who you are. It is a "snapshot" of you with the intent of capturing and emphasising interests and securing you an interview. It is not an autobiography. Since your resume is a primary tool in your job search, it needs to be carefully written and critiqued.
Download and save a copy of the Work Skills and Me Google Slides presentation to complete the following activities:
Identify the purpose of a resume
Research where to find information on employment
Identify and draft information about themselves for their resume

A brief outline of the purpose of a resume
Formatting - headings, font, layout
A list of the personal and work-related information to include
Two links to websites that offer resume writing advice to teens and young people
put a reference to each of these on the Bibliography subpage
An attached or inserted resume template
Learning Intention: We will be able to demonstrate the skills required to positively manage a job interview.
The idea of a resume is to get you an interview. The interview is just as important for the interviewer as it is for the interviewee!! The interviewer uses interviews to investigate applicants as to their personality and suitability for the position they are seeking. Furthermore, the interviewee uses the interview to explore whether the job and company is something that they want to be a part of.
Your first, and every interview can be a very nervous lead up and experience. Being prepared can help minimise these feelings and help you to enter the interview feeling confident and focused.

Young workers form an integral part of any thriving business. The key for young employees is to recognise unfair conditions, and strive to correct any discrimination before it becomes a norm in the company environment.
