Create a new folder in your Google Drive.
All work and downloaded content for this term MUST be saved into this folder.
You are going to save your work into folders on the Google Drive and share them with your the class teacher. Follow the steps in this procedure to create and share your work folder.
Log into your Google Drive
Click into your 10 PASS Folder
Within this folder - Surname_firstname_10PASS, create a new folder named - surname_opportunities

In groups of 2 or 3, you are asked to create an iMOVIE, with visual demonstrations and appropriate use of visual, audio and text features to teach athletes about your chosen sport and skill.
Success Criteria:
Identify reasons for needing rules in sport
Research basic rules used in different sports
Research different different sports and the basic etiquette
Create a new Google Doc titled Rules in Sport and save this in your Enhancing_Performance Google Folder
Write the following question at the top of the document and then provide at least five dot point responses:
Why do we have rules in sport?
Share your responses with your elbow buddy
The class will share ideas and the teacher write these on the board. Students should add any additional ideas to their Google Doc from their peers
Insert a table into your Rules in Sport Google Doc that has two columns labelled with the headings:
Sport
Rules
Locate (using the internet for assistance if needed) five different sports and five rules for each respective sport
The class is to discuss this information to:
Note any similarities or differences between the sporting rules
Suggest reasons for these similarities and differences
Students form groups of four and one student shares a blank document with other students to type on/use paper together
Students brainstorm and write in their own section of the placemat:
“Why do sports require a code of conduct?”
In their groups students discuss the responses they have written down
Students collectively summarise their ideas together and write this in the centre of the placemat
Groups then report to the class what they have written in the centre
Students capture a image on their laptop and save this in their enhancing_performance Google Folder
SQ3R
Students are allocated into groups of three by the teacher
One student is to create a Google Doc titled SQ3R - Codes of Conduct and share it with the the other group members to save into their Enhancing_Performance Google Folder
Students are to assign each member one of the three SQ3R texts from the Google Site to complete in the group Google Doc. The code of conduct texts are below:
SQ3R stands for Survey, Question, Read, Recite and Review.
Survey - Scan the piece of writing to establish its purpose and get the main ideas. Look for titles, headings, pictures, questions, bold or italicised print, introduction and conclusion.
Question - Write questions to aid comprehension. Students turn main headings and pictures into questions.
Read - Search for the answers to the questions and make a series of notes.
Recite - Students using their notes answer the questions in their own words (this can be in the form of a mind map).
Review - Check all questions are answered and read over the answers for understanding.
Students create a Google Doc titled Etiquette and save this into their Enhancing_Performance Google Folder
Watch the YouTube video on the top ten fair play moments on the 10 PASS Google Site and type these int your Etiquette doc
Class discusses common themes that can be identified from the video add these to their document on sports etiquette
Students are given three minutes to record in their Etiquette Doc a response to the following question:
“In what sports does etiquette play a major role in the way in which a game is played?"

Identify a variety of movement skills
Compare the transfer of movement skills across sports
Evaluate the effectiveness of correct technique for sporting performance
Make a copy and save the Movement skill, technique and performance Doc doc in your Enhancing_Performance Google Folder.
Work through the activities contained in the worksheet
Think: Teacher poses the following questions to students:
What strategies and tactics would you employ to enhance your performance and chance for success in the following tennis scenarios?
Your opposition has a strong forehand and good lateral movement across the court
Where would you aim to hit most balls in their end of the court?
What tactic would you use if you saw they did not move forward or back well?

Pair: Students share and compare their ideas with their partner
Share: Pairs share their responses with the class. This can be done using focused listing
We will be able to evaluate the need to monitor technological advancements in sport.
Success Criteria:
Identify issues arising from technology advancement in sports
Investigate the impact of technology on sporting performance over time
Propose rule modifications to reduce the impact of technology
Watch the following video and read the article to gain an understanding about the ways technology is applied in sport
Students create a Google Doc titled Technology and Sport and save this into their Enhancing_Performance Google Folder
Complete the following activities on the document to analyse the contribution of technology to a selected sport:
Select a sport of your choice and provide one example of how technology has impacted on each of the three areas:

Select a different example for each area eg:
DRS in Cricket
Referee bunker in NRL
Goal line cameras in Soccer and AFL
GPS tracking for players in AFL, Soccer and NRL
Provide details about each of the examples you have selected including:
A photo or picture of the technology (if applicable)
Description of the technology – what it is, what it does.
Availability and cost to general public
How it has enhanced performance, participation or spectating for elite athletes or the general population

Work in table groups to complete a placemat activity on the stimulus:
“Issues arising from the use of technology in relation to physical, social, mental and emotional health.”
Students write down in their placemat section an issue that they see with technology.
Students read out their responses in their groups and together create a group response
Together the class watches the Ted Talk on Are athletes really getting faster, better, stronger?
Brainstorm as a class the key themes taken from the Ted Talk
Students are allocated into groups of four
One student is to create a Google Doc or Google Slides presentation and share this with the other members in their group via email
Students are to access the 20 Biggest Technology Advancements in Sports History website
Using the website and the internet, students are to complete research of the following information for their choice of 4 technology advancements in sports history:
Name of technology advancement
Sport the technology advancement is used in
Benefit to performance of the advancement
What rule change could be implemented to the sport to limit the effect of this technology

Calculate the percentage of total time you individually spent on the computer yesterday using the Newman’s Prompt scaffold below
Students are to create a Google Doc titled Monitoring Technological Advancements and save this in your Enhancing_Performance Google Drive folder
Write - Students write down the reasons for monitoring technology in sport and who is responsible
Pair - Students pair up with a buddy and discuss their thoughts then add to their list of reasons
Share - Students share with the class what are the reasons to monitor technology and who is responsible.
Students download the Comparability of performance worksheet from the PASS Google site and complete as per instructions on the worksheet
