All work and downloaded content for this term MUST be saved into this folder.
You are going to save your work into folders on the Google Drive and share them with your the class teacher. Follow the steps in this procedure to create and share your work folder.
Log into your Google Drive
Click into your 10 PASS Folder
Within this folder - Surname_firstname_10PASS, create a new folder named - surname_opportunities
Throughout this unit we will look at different pathways and opportunities that sport provides. The website Athletes Voice is renown for allowing athletes the opportunity to share the opinions and stories .. for a little bit of interesting reading, check it out !

Complete the Kahoot Quiz - Sport Volunteers and Careers as lead by your teacher to revise sport volunteers and job opportunities in the sport, physical activity and recreation industry.

Identify the skills and attributes required in the fields of sport and recreation
Compare skills and attributes required for occupations both in and outside the sport, physical activity and recreation industry
Working in cooperative learning groups as outlined by your teacher, each group should download, save a copy, share and complete the Google Doc titled, Jigsaw - Comparing Personal Skills in Jobs
Using the website links provided on the Google Doc table, research and complete the table that shows the skills and attributes required for the following jobs:
Sport Coach
Personal Trainer
Leisure Centre Assistant
Fitness Instructor
Customer Service Assistant
PE Teacher
Motor Vehicle Body Repairer
Plumber
Each group member is allocated two jobs, one from each list:
Sport and Leisure

Complete the shared Google Doc table, with each member filling in one row by recording the similar traits from the column jobs with the rows jobs. For example, which attributes are common to a Sport Coach and a Customer Service Assistant.

Assess an athletes post-career options
Discuss the implications of finances for athletes

Students and the teacher read through the overview of being an elite athlete and discuss stories students are aware of (eg. from rags to riches athletes)
Students then research the given athletes on the document and the pathway that enabled them their success
Students are given two tables where they can select an athlete of their choosing to research
Students share their chosen athletes and their road to success with the class
Watch YouTube video “The Making of Boxing Jeff Horn” and discuss the way that Jeff’s boxing career arose. Discussion question include:
Why did Jeff become a boxer?
What was so unorthodox about Jeff’s route to becoming professional?
What alternative career pathways does Jeff have?
As a class, view the trailer for “Rising Phoenix”
Based on this trailer and research, students complete a Venn Diagram and discussion comparing able-bodies athletes vs paralympians and the career pathways available

Recall various roles in the physical activity industry
Examine characteristics of positive leadership in community sport
Discuss how positive characteristics of leaders can enhance physical activity, sport and recreation industries
Construct an iMovie encouraging physical activity for a targeted group
What roles that are available in the physical activity and recreation industries?
For each role that is mentioned, suggestion skills that this role would require the individual to have.

One person from each group is to make a copy of the Group iMovie Task + Directions Worksheet and share this with all group members. This document should be saved in your 10 PASS Google Drive Folder
Students are given the following problem that they will be required to respond to:
As a group you will be required to systematically research your allocated target group and the promotional strategies that are most appropriate for this group to encourage them to either become more active or to maintain their current level of physical activity.
You will also be allocated a setting for which will be the focus for the commercial.

Reminder: Television commercials are an example of the use of mass media to promote physical activity at the population-level. Using the background information you have collected as part of your research you will develop and film and edit a two minute (120 second) television commercial.
