Create a new folder in your Google Drive.
All work and downloaded content for this term MUST be saved into this folder.
You are going to save your work into folders on the Google Drive and share them with your the class teacher. Follow the steps in this procedure to create and share your work folder.
Log into your Google Drive
Click into your 10 PASS Folder
Within this folder - Surname_firstname_10PASS, create a new folder named - participating_safety
We will be able to analyse factors that influence risk behaviours in physical activity and sport

Describe factors that increase risk in a sporting environment
Analyse factors that can influence risk behaviours in physical activity and sport
Think: What is risk? Make a list of words that describe risk in sport and physical activity
Pair: Share and compare their ideas about risks with your desk partner
Share: Pairs share their responses with the class.

The teacher will lead your through the teacher version and lead discussion. Throughout this google slide, you will:
Complete notes on risk environments and behaviours
View a video on extreme sports in action to promote thinking
Answer questions and find definitions of key terminology
Create a poster to outline the risks of an extreme physical activity
Discussion considerations for risk vs reward when participating in sport and physical activity
Calculate the percentage of students who would participate in an extreme sport from their survey.
Think:
What physical activities and sports do you participate in?
What environmental risks can affect these activities?
How are these risks managed?
What behavioural risks can affect these activities?
How are these risks managed?

Success Criteria:
Identify risk in various sporting event settings
Examine the role of risk assessments for physical activity
Recommend organisations that support planning safe physical activity and sport
Construct a risk assessment for a physical activity event
As a class, brainstorm to review types of risks that could occur for physical activity and sporting events
Add to the class brainstorm risks after identifying risks and the example of a referee managing some of these risks during community sport
Make a copy of the 3 Level Reading Guide - Tokyo 2021: The risks facing the Olympics and save this to your Participating_Safely Google Drive folder
Complete the three levels of the reading guide to identify the variety of risks to the sporting event including:
Technology
Earth
Weather and climate
Flood
Emerging
Make a copy of the Assessing Risk Google Doc, and save a copy to your Participating_Safely Google Folder
As directed by your teacher, complete the tasks as outlined on the document
We will be able to examine the management of risks in physical activity and sport
Success Criteria:
Involvement in class debate on weight for age
Completed numeracy activity
Investigate various approaches to enhancing safe performance
Construct a modified game that assesses safety and risks
Brainstorm:
Factors that influence safe participation
Class discussion about the issues around “Weight for Age” competition in contact sports
Class is divided and given a point of view: either for or against weight for age.
In class both sides will present their arguments.

Calculate the average of each player.
Discuss how this could be an advantage in a rugby league game and cause possible injuries

As directed by your teacher, complete the activities in the Google Doc
We will be able to implement TOTAPS for injury assessment
Success Criteria:
Outline the TOTAPS approach
Apply TOTAPS to given sporting injury scenarios
As a class, brainstorm:
Injuries that you have previously had, where possible, from sport or physical activity
Watch the YouTube video TOTAPS and RICER for an overview on the TOTAPS injury assessment
Discuss and reflect on the injuries we have previously brainstormed and as to whether we can recall TOTAPS and/or RICER being used
Make a copy of the Injury Management Google Doc, and save a copy to their Participating_Safely Google Folder
Read through the information provided on TOTAPS for injury assessment and complete activities where outlined
When students get to the table at the bottom of the document, they must apply TOTAPS to 5 different scenarios given
Once students have completed this table, the teacher will allocate students into groups and assign each group a scenario
The group must work together to act out this scenario and the application of TOTAPS
This role play will then be demonstrated to the class for feedback
