December 2022
Dear JH & HS Tiger Families:
The Holiday season is upon us and we are gearing up in the Junior High and High School for a "December to Remember"!
The Junior High and High School are full of festive fun this month with themed spirit days and also a holiday door decorating contest. Please click HERE to access our December to Remember calendar!
On Tuesday, December 20th, we have lots of holiday fun in store for our students:
Junior High Student Council will be hosting a holiday movie in the morning periods for grades 6-8 with donations for admission going towards PBIS incentives and rewards. They are asking for a $1 donation for admission.
HS Student Council will be holding a volleyball tournament with the winner playing a faculty team following lunch. Students in grades 9-12 will attend the staff versus student final face-off.
NF Art Club's annual Open Mic Night will be held during 9th and 10th period that will showcase holiday entertainment from various students and staff (grades 6-12). This is always a very memorable time for our students and Mr. Hill, Mr. Shelby, and Mr. Semrau work extremely hard to make sure this event is a success!
Winter sports are now in full swing and our athletes have opened up their seasons with strong representation against their opponents. We are excited to see what successes our Junior High and High School basketball teams have in store this season! We are also looking forward to our first Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony which will be held on Friday, January 20th. We have begun work on our new Hall of Fame room (situated right next to the entrance of our Gene Zorn Gymnasium) and are currently accepting donations for any Newton Falls Tiger memorabilia. Please email Principal Rachael Rankin (rankinr@nfschools.org) or Cheer Advisor Danielle Reynolds (reynoldsd@nfschools.org) if you have any items you'd like to donate.
We are very proud to announce that the JH/HS will be hosting a community guest speaker on Wednesday, December 7th in the auditorium at 6 PM. Marc Mero, former amateur boxer and professional wrestler, is bringing his motivational message “Champion of Choices” to Newton Falls. Empowering youth and families to make healthy choices, Marc’s inspirational videos have been seen by millions, and his influence both online and on stage is worldwide. Students, staff, and community members will be inspired to find joy as they are encouraged through Marc's message to cherish every moment, value relationships, dream big and commit to making a positive difference in their personal life, family, schools, career, and community. Marc will deliver his message during the school day to our staff and students on December 7th and then again in the evening for our community members and parents. Please join us for this special free community event at 6 PM at the Newton Falls High School auditorium on December 7th. You can learn more about Marc at https://thinkpoz.org/.
Our National Honor Society students will be sponsoring our annual North Pole Elf Party on Tuesday, December 13th. This event is for kids ages 2-12 years and will take place in the JH/HS Commons from 5:30-7:30 PM. Doors will open at 5 PM and tickets are $15 each with adults attending for free. There are only 50 spots available so please register today! To print out the registration form, please click HERE.
The HS Band and Choir will be hosting a Holiday Concert on Thursday, December 15th in the auditorium at 7 PM. Please attend to hear our talented musicians and their renditions of holiday classics!
We are incredibly excited to be holding the first Junior High Spelling Bee competition on Monday, December 19th at 8:30 AM and the winner will move on the county competition. We want to thank Mrs. Schlaubach and our Junior High Student Council students for planning this exciting opportunity for our junior high students.
We hope you all have an enjoyable December as we gear up for the holiday season!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Rankin & Mr. Bauman
