May 2023
Dear JH & HS Tiger Families:
It's hard to believe that we've finally reached the last month of the 22-23 school year! May is one of the busiest months for our school district and our halls are filled with the end-of-year excitement!
Seniors are finishing up with their requirements in preparation for walking across that graduation stage on May 21st. The Seniors' last regular day of school is May 8th and they will spend this memorable day in the community participating in Senior Service Day which was rescheduled due to weather from May 1st. Senior exams are scheduled to start on May 9th and end on May 12th. If you haven't checked it out yet, please click HERE to view Mrs. Rankin's Senior Newsletter which has important information relating to senior exams, graduation rehearsal, etc. We have decided to move graduation to the football stadium on May 21st due to the HS gym floor not being fully cured in time for our ceremony. In the case of rain, we would transition our graduation to the auditorium but we are keeping our fingers crossed. Wish us great weather for our Class of 2023 grads!
Prom season is in full swing and we are hosting our annual Jr/Sr Prom this year at Roby Lee's Banquet Center on Friday, May 5th. We will have a Promenade here in the JH Gym on Friday at 5 PM and then all our Juniors and Seniors will be released to Roby Lee's. We encourage all of our parents and community members to attend the Promenade and send our Juniors and Seniors off to Prom in style! We would also like to congratulate our 2023 Prom Court members and wish them good luck!

Our Spring sports are winding down and our Fall coaches are already gearing up for their pre-season conditioning. Girls Soccer will have a meeting immediately after school on May 11th with Coach Tatarka to discuss the upcoming season. All girls interested in playing soccer who will be in grades 9-12 next school year should attend.
We are currently finishing up state testing season and next week kicks off Teacher Appreciation Week (May 8th - 12th). If you or your child would like to share some words of appreciation to a Newton Falls teacher or teachers, please submit a shout out to the link HERE. We will make sure your kind words of gratitude are shared with our staff members and appreciate all of your support.
Our 6th Graders leave next week for their Washington D.C. trip and we are excited that they have this opportunity to go! We are very appreciative to the staff who have planned this, particularly Mrs. Giuliano, and are also grateful to the parent chaperones who are volunteering to attend. This is such an invaluable experience for our students and we wish them good luck and a great time on their trip!
For anyone who is interested in sending their sophomore student on the trip to Gettysburg next school year in November but was unable to make our April parent meeting, please email Mrs. Donley for information. She can be contacted at donleym@nfschools.org.
Mr. Gross and his junior classes are planning a Community Car Wash for Junior Service Day which will take place on Saturday, May 20th. More details will be released about this shortly!
We will close out the school year with our Top of the Class Banquet on May 15, Senior Awards/Breakfast/Send Off on May 16th, and our final Band/Choir concert of the year on May 18th at 6 PM in the auditorium. We will be collecting all student Chromebooks at the end of this school year so they can be refurbished, repaired, and updated. Please make sure you drop off any devices to the JH or HS office in the case that your child does not turn one in.
Over summer break, please stay tuned to our school website and school Facebook page to stay up-to-date on any important information. Thank you for all of your support throughout this school year and we hope you all have a wonderful month of May and fantastic summer!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Rankin, Principal & Mr. Bauman, Assistant Principal
