September 2023
Dear JH & HS Tiger Families:
We are officially in September and have kicked off the 23-24 school year strong! Students resumed classes on August 24th and have been adjusting extremely well to their new routines and schedules.
Our Fall sports are in full swing and we are preparing for Homecoming festivities to kick off during the week of September 18th. Spirit Week will be Monday, September 18th through Friday, September 22nd. The Homecoming Game will be Friday evening versus the Liberty Leopards and the Homecoming Dance will be on Saturday, September 23rd, in the JH/HS Commons. The theme of this year's Homecoming is "A Night in the Magic Kingdom." Tickets will go on sale beginning 9/18 during student lunches. TCTC students can purchase theirs in the HS Office from Mrs. Howard after school until 3 PM each week.
We have adopted new Tiger Stadium Guidelines, which can be accessed HERE. These guidelines apply to any events at Tiger Stadium moving forward. We appreciate your cooperation with this as we try to ensure every spectator has a safe and enjoyable experience!
All students in grades 6-12 have been conducting i-Ready assessments in Math and ELA since the start of school to determine levels of performance and standards mastery. Please discuss with your children the importance of trying their best on these assessments as we rely heavily on this data to determine individualized instruction for our students.
Monday, September 18th kicks off the start to our Junior High After School Program in collaboration with Alta Care Group. The After School Program runs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2:30-4:30 and focuses on academic support, community outreach, social recreation, and healthy habits. The students who participate also get the opportunity to partiicpate in multiple field trips at zero costs to families! Parents of students in grades 6-8 are encouraged to contact Mrs. Rankin (rankinr@nfschools.org) to reserve a spot as seats are limited. To read more about this opportunity, please click HERE.
Counselors have started reaching out to individual families this week and will continue to make calls next week to enroll students in services provided by Youth Intensive Services, an in-house behavioral health agency that has joined our district this school year. If you have not received a phone call yet and are interested in having your child participate in services offered by Youth Intensive Services, please email Principal Rankin (rankinr@nfschools.org) to request a referral.
We encourage all parents to check out the new Code of Character, Conduct, and Support that is posted on our school website HERE. This Code provides many resources for parents who are in need of assistance for a variety of reasons.
We want to remind parents of our revised cell phone policy. Students in grades 6-8 cannot be on their phones or have phones visible at any time throughout the school day. Students in grades 9-12 are permitted cell phone usage/access at lunch time only. We appreciate your cooperation with this and are already seeing positive results in student engagement, behavior, and socialization from this policy change!
We are committed to creating a partnership between our school and our Tiger families so that every child can be successful and achieve their highest potential. We appreciate your cooperation as we work together this school year! Please don't hesitate to reach out to us if you need anything or have questions/concerns. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Rankin, Principal & Mr. Bauman, Assistant Principal
