January 2023
Dear JH & HS Tiger Families:
Happy New Year to our students, staff, and Tiger families! January has been a busy month so far with the conclusion of the grading period on January 6th and our Winter assessment period for i-Ready (ELA and Math diagnostic screeners). As you already know, our building experienced significant flooding over our holiday break which has resulted in several relocated classrooms and construction in our gymnasium while we repair the water damage. Our custodial staff along with a disaster recovery company have been hard at work to help restore the building to its former glory and we are very appreciative for their efforts.
Our Winter sports program has been incredibly successful thus far despite having to take our JV and Varsity teams on the road to Lordstown High School while the gym is being repaired. Our cheerleaders are currently selling shirts to commemorate this unusual season and you can order yours by this Friday, January 13th, by clicking the link HERE. The Freshman and Junior High teams are playing at a very competitive level and we are proud of the accomplishments of all of our athletes!
We have received inquiries regarding refunds for the streaming service for Varsity games through NFHS Network due to our gym being unavailable at this time. For any individuals who would like to request a refund for their streaming subscription, you can submit a refund request here: https://playonsubs.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. You can also email customersupport@nfhsnetwork.com to request your refund. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and are working on a solution to provide game footage at our events that will be held at Lordstown.
There is football lifting and conditioning for the 2023 season on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2:40-4:00 PM. There is also conditioning for distance runners and cross country members on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays after school until 3:30 PM.
The Junior High held the Spelling Bee right before our holiday break and a huge congratulations goes out to 7th Grade winner, Zander Fitzgibbon! All of the students did a fantastic job and we appreciate Mrs. Schlaubach for helping to bring the Spelling Bee back to the Junior High for the first time in many years!
We would like to acknowledge Sophomore Brian Axiotis who has been chosen for 1st Trumpet in the All-County Jazz Band Ensemble. This is the first time in school history that we have had a student chosen for this ensemble and we are very proud of and excited for Brian and his music teacher Mr. Semrau! Congrats to you both!
