We want to express our sincere gratitude for your support and encouragement as we opened the 22-23 school year! It has been a great start to the year thus far and we are very excited for what the 22-23 school year has in store for us.

Our school counselors have been conducting classroom presentations on suicide prevention and mental health during the month of September and our school-based social worker, Mrs. Mancino, will be returning to our building starting Friday, September 16. We are very happy to welcome Mrs. Mancino back this school year as she has been a very big part of our positive school culture here!
Interim grades will be posted by the end of the school day on Friday, September 23rd. Starting this year, only students with D's or F's will receive a printed interim report. If you receive a report, you should reach out immediately to your child's teacher/s. You are encouraged to check your Progress Book regularly and communicate with your child's teacher.
Parent/Teacher conferences will be held on October 12th from 3 PM to 6 PM. Scheduling for conferences will begin on October 3rd and you can call 330.872.5121 and speak with the respective secretaries to make an appointment.
As always, we value and encourage your active participation in your child's education. We ask that you frequently communicate with your child's teacher, check the website for updates and reach out to us if you have any questions.
All of our students have completed the i-Ready diagnostic in both ELA and Math which has provided us with important information about our students' strengths, weaknesses, and learning needs. We are using the valuable data from this diagnostic assessment to help drive our instruction and establish small group intervention rotations to help address any learning gaps. We will start mailing home diagnostic assessment soon to parents so please be on the lookout for that.
We are very excited to announce that we will be offering an after school program beginning next week for students in grades 6-8. This program is available through a grant that we received in conjunction with Alta Care Group. Students referred by teachers and guidance counselors who participate in the program will participate in academic intervention and social recreation with NF staff and Alta Care staff.

Newton Post 236 of the American Legion honored the former Delegates, now Alumni, of Buckeye Boys State (BBS) and Girls State (BGS) with a Recognition Luncheon on Sunday, September 11th from 1-3pm. The programs were held June 19-22 at Miami University and the University of Mount Union respectively.
The luncheon gives each student an opportunity to speak about their experience and answer questions from veterans, parents, and sponsors.
The American Legion and auxiliary's cost of the program per delegate is $300 for BBS ($450 with the host-site Miami University sponsoring $150 per delegate). And $450 for BGS. We have received sponsoring help in the past from Newton Falls Kiwanis, Holpuck - Kiefer, DDS, and Cadle Co.
During the Spring of last school year, several of our junior high students participated in the writing and acting of a short film with the help of the organization OK, Inc. Those who participated in the movie attended the "Friends 4 Friends Film Festival" last week in Youngstown, Ohio. The festival showcased the students’ work at an Oscar-like, red carpet event that attracted fellow students, parents, community members, and the press. The following students participated in this project: Allie Cribley, Claire Greene, Wayne Scott, Connor Wright, Peyton Estes, Brady Hatch, Mariah Kisner, Evelyn Lam, and Kylee Lance. A huge congratulations goes out to Evelyn Lam who won the Best Actress award! We are so proud of our local celebrities and their hard work! You can watch their film below!
