November 2022
Dear JH & HS Tiger Families:
The weather is changing, leaves are falling, and we are flying through this school year! Our Fall sports have concluded and each sport is planning on their own celebrations for post-season honors. We are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication that our Fall athletes displayed! Our Winter sports have started practicing and are gearing up for a successful season.
Our Junior High and High School had a busy October with report cards, grade celebrations, PBIS character card rewards, an indoor Marching Band concert, Halloween costume contests, and so much more! We are very excited to continue offering memorable experiences for our kids on top of engaging and enriching academics.
The 6th Grade held a successful pancake breakfast on November 6th to help raise money towards the cost of their Washington D.C. trip in the Spring. We sincerely appreciate all those who helped make the event a success!
Our Junior and Senior classes have been working diligently on the school's annual Veterans Day program. Our program will be held in the JH/HS Auditorium on Friday, November 11th at 9 AM. All are invited and encouraged to attend as our students pay tribute to our Veterans.
Looking ahead, our PBIS team's Kindness Club is sponsoring a spirit week in honor of Kindness Week from November 14-18th. Please encourage your children to participate and help us spread kindness!
Lastly, Mrs. Schlaubach and Junior High Student Council have started organizing our first Junior High Spelling Bee! The final Spelling Bee competition will be held on Monday, December 21st at 8 AM and the winner will move on the county competition. We are very excited to offer this opportunity to our Junior High students!
Interim grades will be entered on November 22nd and those students with Ds and Fs will have interims distributed on 11/30. As always, we encourage all parents to utilize the ParentAccess portal for Gradebook and reach out directly to any teachers via phone or email with concerns. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions! Thank you for your continued support. Go Tigers!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Rankin & Mr. Bauman
The Junior High and High School Kindness Club will be sponsoring a Kindness Spirit Week during the Week of November 14th. We encourage all students and staff to participate! Shout out to our PBIS Team (Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports) for planning this with our Kindness Club students!
Congratulations to our October Students of the Month, Landon English (JH) and Wayne Scott (HS)!
The Lady Tigers will be hosting a Foundation Game on November 16th, 2022, against the Windham Lady Bombers. There will be raffle baskets and much more as our Lady Tigers raise money for Melissa Fowler, Newton Falls bus driver & Tiger basketball mom, who has been fighting a courageous battle with cancer. The game will start at 7 PM!
The after school program is underway on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Junior High. This program is available through a grant that we received in conjunction with Alta Care Group and will continue until the end of the school year. Students who participate in the program will participate in academic intervention and social recreation with NF staff and Alta Care staff. Please email Mrs. Rankin (rankinr@Nfschools.org) or Mrs. Smith (smithj@nfschools.org) if you would like your child to participate. You can still recommend your child for a spot in this program!
The CBI Program is currently sponsoring their annual food drive. Please bring in non-perishable foods to help feed our NF families during the holidays. A prize will be awarded to the 2nd period class that brings in the most food donations at the end of the event. A CBI student will be around during 2nd period each day to collect the donations. The drive will run through November 11.
If you've driven in town over the last couple days, you will notice that the Class of 2023 Senior Banners have been put up by Mr. Bill George. We are extremely appreciative of Mr. George for his willingness to hang these for us and thank you to those that purchased banners for our Seniors!
On Tuesday, November 22nd, former Newton Falls graduate Bailey Adams will be here to give a presentation to students in 10th through 12th grade about her experiences as a West Point cadet!
