Using Canva Slides in Google Slides

Canva is a great resource when it comes to making presentations, or any other classroom related materials. They have tons of templates that are ready for you to use, or you can start from scratch and use their elements to create what you want (there are SO many).

The only downfall I saw, previously, with creating a presentation in Canva was that I had to present them in Canva. There was the option to download the presentation and upload it into Google Slides, but then they weren't editable. However, that is not the case!

Go to Canva and select "Presentation" - If you have never used Canva, refer to this page and read how you can sign up and get FREE access to everything on their site.
Select the type of presentation you want to create. The Presentation (16:9) option is the regular setup of Slides, but take a look and find what works for you.

3. Select a template you want to use, search for a specific template, or start creating from a blank screen - choose whatever is the best fit for you!

4. When you are done creating your presentation on Canva, click "Share" and scroll down so you can select "More."

5. You will have to scroll down until you find the Google Drive option, when you see it, select that.

5a. If this is your first time doing this, you will have to connect Canva to your Drive. To do this, select "Connect Google Drive" and then you just have to click on the correct email address and choose "Allow" on the next page that pops up.

6. Select were you want this to be saved in your Drive.

7. On the next screen, click where it says "PNG" and select "PPTX."

8. Be sure that all pages are selected, then click "Save."

9. Find your presentation in Slides and open it. One thing to be aware of is that if the font you used in Canva is not also used in Google, it will default to Arial 🙄 You can change the font to anything you want - as long as Google offers it.

10. To make this more accessible, and editable, click "File" and choose "Save as Google Slides." This will create a new copy of the presentation, but now all of the elements are editable. If you do this step, I would suggest deleting the old one, so you don't get confused (and to save space).
