Adding Text Boxes to Google Slides

The following steps will show you how to add a text box to a digital slide that will say, "Click to add text" (a placeholder) but when the students click in the box, it will disappear and they will be ready to type. This is much more convienent than adding a text box without any words in it since the kids claim they can't find those text boxes, or adding a text box and typing "add text here" which requries the kids to delete that before they can type.

There are simple steps to follow that will make it easier to students to complete a digital assignment.

Steps to Add a Text Box Placeholder (with "Click to add text" in it)

Open the Slide/resource you want to use
Go to the slide that needs a text box
At the top of the page, click the arrow next to the plus sign you use to add a new slide and choose the Title and Body option (you can choose others, but this is one of them that has the "Click to add text" instead of "title" or "heading").

Now you will have a new slide with the text box placeholder.
In order to use that box, you will want to click on the outside line so the entire box is blue, but the cursor is not flashing.

Now you have two options. You can:

Copy and paste that box and just resize it to fit

Change the font, font size, color, spacing, and so on before copying and pasting then resizing.

*If the Slides are being presented, the words "Click to add text" will not show up.*
