Changing the Default Font on Google Docs

There are plenty of people who have no problem using Arial as their font, but I despise that font and refuse to use it (whenever possible). That means I have to take precious seconds each time I type on a Doc and change the font, the font size, color, and spacing. By chance, I came across a blog that talked about changing your default font on Docs, and I knew I had to send it as my Tech Tip. Hopefully, there are others who feel the same way about Arial and find this useful...

Follow these simple steps to change your default font to whatever you choose!

Open a new Doc
Set the font, font size, spacing, and whatever else you want to set as the default. I've changed my font, font size, color, and spacing.

3. You will need to type of a few lines, or have something to highlight on the Doc

4. Highlight the text that you just added, or that you changed the format of

5. From there you will select: Fromat, Paragraph syles, Normal Text, and Update 'Normal text' to match

6. Again, select: Format, Paragraph styles, Options, Save as my default styles. Once you do this, a little box will pop up that confirms your change.

7. Open a new Doc and test it out!

If you want to change the default font again, you just have to follow the previous steps.

If you choose that you want to reset the font, you would follow these steps:

Open a new Doc, or use one you already have
Select: Format, Paragraph styles, Options, Reset styles

3. After reseting, you would follow Step 6 from above (Format, Paragraph styles, Options, Save as my default styles).
