Book Creator

Book Creator is a resource that can be used in all grades and in most subject areas too, as long as you get a little creative. This site allows you to create libraries, make your own book (there are a variety of types of books you can choose from), have students create books, and you can share these books in a variety of ways.

More specifically, you can create books using text, audio, videos, photos, and drawings. It also allows books to be read in multiple languages and will highlight the words as it goes. And, when you're ready, you can publish your books online, download them to be read as an eBook, or download them as a PDF.

Not only can you create a basic book, but you can also create comic strips, cookbooks, magazines, newspaper articles, textbooks, and more. Book Creator even has those templates set up for you to use.

I have used Book Creator in the past, but it has a lot of updated features. I am currently doing the training to be a "Certified Author," which is just a series of videos to watch that go into detail about how to use the different features. If you want to complete this training, let me know and I can send you the link! There's a badge you get once you complete the videos and quiz 😁. The videos have a ton of useful information, so I really do recommend utilizing that option!

Below are some helpful links and descriptions that can be used to get started with Book Creator.

How to Sign Up
- This link walks you through how to sign up. It's really important that you ensure you are signing in under the teacher tab, and not student. It defaults to the student option, so be sure you choose the teacher tab!
Creating a Library
- When you sign up, you will have a library called "My Books." However, this library is locked and won't allow students to view or create any books.
- In order to allow students to be added to the library and create books, you will need to create a new library (see the picture below.)
  - While using the free version, you can only have 1 active libary - not counting the My Books library!
  - You can also only have 40 books in the libary. But, there is an option to save books, so that shouldn't be a problem!

Inviting Students to Join Your Library
- This walks you through the different ways you can have students join your library.
  - They can join by using the code, which will require them to login first
  - They can also join by scanning a QR code, which their Chromebooks are capable of scanning!
Creating a Book
- This will walk you through, pretty much, everything you need to know in order to create your own book in Book Creator.
How Students Create Books
- This will walk through 3 different ways students can create books - new books, copying a teachers book, or collaborating with others.

- One of the options included in Book Creator includes comic books, and this will explain the different features that are included in this option.

- My favorite features are the Discover and Learn option. These two are actually very similar, but included in those tabs are examples for different grade levels, different subjects, resources to help you learn more, and books written by Book Creator Ambassadors.
