NEWS FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE
We are seeing a variety of illnesses at school right now: such as stomach bug, colds and lice. Please take time to review the district return to school guidelines linked here.
Students, staff and families should be doing their best to prevent illness by washing hands often, drinking plenty of water, eating nutritious foods and getting enough sleep. This sets your body up to fight germs! Please check in with your kids about these things they can do to stay healthy.
Every classroom is getting a glo-germ lesson so students can get a better understanding of how they’re doing with hand washing practices.
As always please reach out with questions.
Enjoy the snow!

Hello Families of Brewster-Pierce,
Thank you so much for making the Kids heart Challenge such a success. We raised over $2000. For families that earned large prizes, the gifts have shipped and I am waiting to give them out. I am also sending out information about the Snow Motion over the weekend about the volunteer schedule. Thank you.
Have a great day,
Peter Taylor

Many classes are engaging, exploring and reflecting on their Brain Power! They are learning and understanding about the three parts of the brain and what they do at different developmental levels. This supports the collective goal of "How can we learn to react differently, helping our brain make wise choices about our words and actions?" Our lessons support emotional development (regulating emotions), focus (focusing attention), developing resilience to face challenges and how to build empathy.
Happy New Year! We hope you all had a wonderful holiday break!
Our annual Kids Only Shopping Extravaganza was a smashing success! A HUGE THANK YOU to Jen Engstrom and Dee Quesnel for coordinating this awesome event! Many thanks as well to all who donated items and wrapping supplies and the parent volunteers who made it all happen- Brit Degree, Mary-Rose Warner, Brianne Ragno, Hilary Redman, Carrie Wyatt and Liz Smith!
Do you have feedback for us? Family feedback is so valued and has helped us improve this event each year! Last year we switched from purchasing wrapping supplies to collecting donated supplies instead, and this year we eliminated the cash aspect of the event, all due to feedback received from families. With the help of these ideas, this has become a zero waste event with zero cost — other than the many hours given by our amazing parent volunteers sorting through items, setting up tables, helping kids shop, wrapping gifts, and imagining ways to make it even better next time! You don’t have to be “on PIE” to share your thoughts! If you have some or would like to get involved in this event next year, please feel free to contact us at chair@bpmspie.org or view a list of our board members at www.bpmspie.org and check in with one of them!
COMING UP:
Friday Morning Coffee Hour returns January 31st! Come hang out for All School Morning Meeting with coffee, tea, and delicious treats from the kitchen! We hope to see you there!
Are you interested in an opportunity to be involved in your child(ren)’s life during the school day? Would you like to get to know every child at BPMS by name? Curious to know if your kids are actually eating their vegetables at school? If so, volunteering in the kitchen as a lunch server might be a great place to start! The BPMS kitchen team is proud to make fresh, wholesome, and delicious food, however, we are dependent on volunteers to help serve lunch. Please consider signing up for a day or two to join the kitchen team and be a part of the school lunch hustle. The time commitment is from 10:50-12:30 and no experience is required! And, you get to see your kiddos and squeeze in a few extra hugs! Please check out the SignUpGenius HERE to sign up for a shift or contact Hilary at hilary.redman@mmuusd.org for more information.
