We know that registration for camps and summer childcare will be taking place soon, therefore, we want to share the following information that may be helpful.
Currently, we have had no cancelled school days this year and the last student day of this school year is June 13th. In the event, we do need to cancel school for weather or an emergency, we will add these days to the end of the school year. However, in an effort to help parents/caregivers plan for the summer months, we implemented a practice 2 years ago that the last student day will be no later than June 18th. Any additional student school days added to the school calendar will be repurposed for staff professional development. Please note, we will update the school year calendar on the schools' websites if the last student day changes due to school cancellations.
The 2025-26 Champlain Valley Regional School Year Calendar has not been approved, but the initial drafts have the tentative first student day scheduled for August 27, 2025. The District will inform the school community when the first student day of 2025-26 has been approved by regional superintendents and when the MMUUSD 2025-26 School Year Calendar has been finalized.
Many learners continue to learn about self-awareness and how to keep our bodies and brains healthy. It's important to protect and care for our amazing brain!
Bodies and brains work best when they are active and at school we do this in many different ways.
Some learners continue to track their walking steps with a pedometer as a form of a targeted movement break.
We tie all kinds of breaks back to self-awareness and self-care in our learning.
A few books that we have loved to read or listen to are:
NEWS FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE
We have noticed some students are choosing to bring sugary or caffeinated drinks to school. Drinking sugary drinks can lead to increased risk of tooth decay, obesity and type 2 diabetes. Please see below some information from the CDC on how to RETHINK YOUR DRINK for your family.
Also, a reminder that vacation is a great time to wash backpacks and snow gear to get rid of gems.
2025 BPMS apparel is coming soon! We are planning a whole new line of BPMS logo apparel and everyone will have a chance to order it shortly. Watch your email for a link to pre-order in the next few days! Ordering will stay open until Sunday March 9th and then you will get your new gear in April. We will collect orders online and then you can pay for your order when you pick it up. There will be a variety of pick-up times to accommodate different schedules. We plan to order some extra units in case you decide you need a few extra items but if there is something specific you want then please pre-order it to guarantee we get your size and style.
Two opportunities to support our school are coming up on Town Meeting Day and beyond!
The Giving Tree is back outside the BPMS library and will be up for the entire month of March!
On it you will find "wish list" items for classrooms written on a tag on our tree.
Please take a tag if you see an item on the tree you'd like to purchase in support of our wonderful teachers! When you bring the item to school you can drop it off to the teacher or Sue has kindly offered to take the item to the classroom or support team member!
Gently Used Book Drive: Do you have good quality books that are taking up space on your shelf? We are collecting gently used, current books that can be sold to help fund the amazing work in our school library!
You can drop them off in the box at BPMS starting on Town Meeting Day!
We're looking for:
- Adult and young adult hardcover and paperback books in good condition (no writing, highlighting, or damage)
- Titles published in the last 10-15 years
- Fiction and non-fiction books (but we cannot accept textbooks, encyclopedias, outdated nonfiction, or heavily worn books)
Our next PIE meeting will be March 12 at 7pm in the Huntington Public Library!
Are you interested in an opportunity to be involved in your child(ren)’s life during the school day? Would you like to get to know every child at BPMS by name? Curious to know if your kids are actually eating their vegetables at school? If so, volunteering in the kitchen as a lunch server might be a great place to start! The BPMS kitchen team is proud to make fresh, wholesome, and delicious food, however, we are dependent on volunteers to help serve lunch. Please consider signing up for a day or two to join the kitchen team and be a part of the school lunch hustle. The time commitment is from 10:50-12:30 and no experience is required! And, you get to see your kiddos and squeeze in a few extra hugs! Please check out the SignUpGenius HERE to sign up for a shift or contact Hilary at hilary.redman@mmuusd.org for more information.
