Students should arrive at 7:20 AM to enjoy breakfast and social connection time with their peers. Our academic day begins promptly at 7:40 AM, and students should be ready to learn by that time. Dismissal begins at 2:15 PM for bus riders, and at 2:20 PM for students being picked up or attending Part 2. If your student is going to be absent or there is a change to their after school schedule, please copy Sue (susan.brady@mmuusd.org) in addition to emailing their classroom teacher.

A Friendly Reminder from the BPMS Library
Dear BPMS Families, As we enter the (hopefully cheerful) chaos of the winter holiday season, I'd like to respectfully request that everyone redouble their efforts of taking good care of our treasured library books. I do a lot of teaching with all of our students about how to gently handle and treat our shared book resources, so that they can be enjoyed for years to come. Of course, accidents happen, and letting me know if book-related disaster strikes is the best response. Please do not attempt (or allow your children to attempt) at-home book repairs. The impulse to fix and repair is very dear, but it can end up damaging an already injured book even further. I have good quality book repair materials here at school, and if necessary, I love to use them. We can all encourage keeping the books away from food and drink, away from babies and pets, clean, and dry. I teach gentle page-turning, and this is a great skill to practice while we read with our youngest book lovers. Our library books get a whole lot of love, and it certainly shows when some beloved titles seem to be more tape and glue than book, and there are times when replacement is the only option. I try to make them last as long as possible, and I really appreciate your support from home.

The 4th graders sorted fractions onto a number line - this is trickier than it looks at first! Even the teachers had to do some math!

The Kindergarteners, 1st graders and 2nd graders enjoyed some outdoor time at the Rec field. Check out the spirals they made and the snow angels! Lots of smiles and lots of fun!

This holiday season, we are so grateful to all of you for supporting the students, PIE, and the school community! Here are some upcoming ways to get involved and build connection this season:
December First Friday December 5th 5-7 pm @ Huntington Village: PIE will be at the Library serving FREE hot chocolate and cider - come say hello!
Friday Morning Coffee Hour December 19th 7:30-8:30am @ BPMS! Join us for coffee, tea, treats, and a chance to talk with other parents!
BPMS Shopping Extravaganza December 19th! This is a beloved yearly tradition for K-4 students to select gifts for loved ones. This event is free for all participating students - no money will exchange hands.
If you have any like-new or gently-used giftable items taking up space, gathering dust, and not being used, PIE would be grateful if you would consider donating them to this event. PIE would also greatly appreciate donations for wrapping supplies.
Sample GIFT items include: tools, jewelry, games, toys, and household items. Last year we noticed that we could use more items in the following areas: tools, outdoors, camping, gardening, and DIY. Some students will need to be able to bring items home on the bus so we encourage smaller-sized objects.
Sample SUPPLY items include:
gift bags, gift tags, and tissue paper (most helpful)
small boxes for jewelry, wrapping paper, and tape (still very helpful!).
Donations can be left in the bin outside of Sue's office, to the right after entering the school. If you have items you would like to donate, but you do not regularly go to the school, let us know and we are happy to make alternative arrangements. Our contact information is below.
Please provide all donations by Thursday, December 18th.

Richmond Congregational Church and Richmond Town Center, Bridge Street, Richmond, Vermont
Free admission to more than 40 crafters in both buildings on all floor levels. Table proceeds benefit Richmond Food Shelf (non-perishable food donation bin available). Silent Auction benefits Toys for Kids (toy donation bin available). In conjunction with the Richmond Free Library’s Book Sale and Sixth Grade Craft Fair at Camel’s Hump Middle School. Lunch will be available for a fee by Congregational Church. Richmond Community Band will play festive music. Free parking at the School, Town Center, and Volunteer’s Green. The MMUUSD School Board will be hosting our state representatives on Monday 12/8 at 6:30 at Jericho Elementary School to discuss the budget, and state funding implications. Community comments are welcome at the beginning of the meeting. There is a virtual option for those who prefer to attend that way.
