Students should arrive at 7:20 AM to enjoy breakfast and social connection time with their peers. Our academic day begins promptly at 7:40 AM, and students should be ready to learn by that time. Dismissal begins at 2:15 PM for bus riders, and at 2:20 PM for students being picked up or attending Part 2.  If your student is going to be absent or there is a change to their after school schedule, please copy Sue (susan.brady@mmuusd.org) in addition to emailing their classroom teacher. 

John Haddon, Huntingtonian, volunteered his time and his drone to take photos of kindergartners making a spiral on the Rec Field. The children learned about how spirals can be forms of art and forms of mindfulness. And fun too!

For best results, please return your BPMS library books ahead of the winter break! The winter break can be a whirlwind! Snow, ice, rain (ugh), mud (no), pine needles, wrapping paper, travel, sugar, and lost shoes! In my family, we plan to return library books before the break. As a parent of two elementary school-aged children AND your trusty school librarian, I highly recommend this strategy. Thanks in advance for your help in keeping track of our library books!

The whole school has been busy at work building, rebuilding, and modifying the snow structure near the parking lot. Take a look before it melts away!

At Brewster Pierce all classes have dedicated time for Guidance and additional time for whole class Social Emotional Learning (SEL). In SEL, classes are learning about the emotional center of the brain. The goal is to use evidence based methods to strengthen students’ ability to regulate emotions, focus attention, and build empathy. 

This morning at All School Morning Meeting, Madame Brain, including the emotional center of the brain (Prefrontal Cortex (PFC), Amygdala and the Hippocampus) did some engaging teaching. Different classes taught us about aspects of neuroscience, along with using mindfulness strategies that we all can use across school, home and the community.
