In Reading we will continue to analyse the language used by the authors to build characters in a story using Gary as our mentor text. Students will also analyse the structure of a narrative.
In writing this week, students will plan and draft first person narrative in the style of diary entries.
The focus of writing will be a journal style entry recording the events of a fictious story.
This week in Spelling we will be learning about the 'wa' (was), war' (warm) and 'wor' (work) spelling patterns. We will also revise and learn some new tricky words and contractions (eg. won't, can't, they're etc)
This week we will refresh our knowledge of subtraction strategies and applying them in different problems. We will be measuring each others' heights and looking at the differences between them as well as looking at the language of 'the difference between'.
Using map grid systems and the maps that we made in Week 2, we will create some directions for each other to find objects around the room!
This week in Health, we will describe strategies we can use to support friends and seek help. We will also describe why it is important to seek help from an adult for serious problems and we will identify which problems are serious enough to mean that it is important to seek help from an adult.
This week, we will investigate how data is transmitted and transferred between digital systems. We will be looking at real-life examples of data transmission and transferal and analysing appropriate means of transmission.
