In week 9, we will continue reading and evaluating persuasive texts. We will focus on identifying persuasive devices and describing their purpose. Students will also monitor their understanding of a text by questioning what they are reading.
In week this week, We will be learning about using Questioning as a comprehension Strategy. We will be reading "Let's Save the Great barrier Reef" as our Mentor Text to ask Literal and Inferential questions and wonderings about the Great Barrier.
We will also unpack Persuasive devices used by the author.
In word work, we will continue to learn how to use high modality words to make our writing more persuasive.
In Spelling this week, we will learn about the suffix rule, changing 'y' to 'i'.
This week we start delving into division. We will focus in on halving strategies and start to make connections with our multiplication facts. We will also be doing daily reviews of number facts / strategies.
This week in Health, we will begin our unit on Health Messages. We will examine health messages from different sources and explore choices, behaviours and outcomes conveyed in these messages.
This week, students will consider their classroom needs and have a go at writing their own rule for the classroom, explaining how it is different to a law, who would enforce it and the consequences (positive and negative) of following their rule.
