Term 1, Week 9

Reading

For Reading this week we will be looking at text to self connections. We will practise using our mentor text 'Stuck' and then make text to self connections with our own books.

Writing

This week we be continuing to write our adapted narrative based on 'Stuck' by Oliver Jeffers.

Students will work on their draft this week, focusing on engaging their audience.

Word Work and Spelling

In Spelling this week, we will be learning about homophones.

Maths

This week we will be continuing to learn and practise addition strategies! We will be learning the Split Strategy to solve addition problems and applying it to different situations. This involves partitioning the addends before adding them up.

eg. 45 + 28 =

40 + 20 = 60

5 + 8 = 13

60 + 13 = 73

We will also learn about rotational symmetry in shapes.

Health

This week in Health, we will be continuing our CyberSafety lessons for this term. We will be learning about responsible and appropriate ways to communicate online.

Civics and Citizenship

This week we will be continuing to learn about and investigate the local council. Students will research their a service that the local government provides for the community.
