Students will begin to participate in Reader's Workshop lessons, where they will make predictions about texts and consider audience and purpose.
We will be reading 'Miss Lily's Fabulous Feather Boa' as our mentor text this week.
Students will be setting up their Writer's Notebook and begin collecting seeds (ideas) for writing in it. They will practise using their Writer's Notebooks to inspire some narrative and free choice writing.
Students will be investigating dependent and independent clauses this week. They will identify the different types of clauses and practise writing their own.
In Spelling, we will be learning about base, prefix and suffix as well as the suffix 'er'.
Students will continue to develop their understanding of Place Value. They will be modelling numbers using materials, as well as comparing and ordering numbers up to six digits.
This week in Health, we will begin our lessons with our new Friendology Program.
The first session is focused on self-compassion, teaching students how to tame their butterflies and feel calm when they are experiencing big emotions.
The second session teaches students strategies for making new friends.
Students will begin to explore Civics and Citizenship this week.
They will think about how decisions are made and the importance of making decisions democratically.
