Description: PALS is a whole class peer tutoring program focused on fluency and comprehension. The PALS model allows for students to practice reading skills with immediate feedback and to have extensive reading practice. Below are directions for the partner reading and paragraph shrinking elements of PALS.

1. Administer one minute reading fluency probe to each student (just one - don't worry about taking the median of 3).

2. Pair students: First, put the students in order from lowest to highest reading fluency score. Pair student #1 with the student in the middle, student #2 with the next student down, etc. See below.
