Reagan Tanner

Reagan Tanner is a senior in the graduating class of 2023. She has been at Galileo since her Junior year and plans to attend Elon University to major in biology, eventually going into the medical field to become a neurosurgeon.

What are your achievements and clubs?

At Galileo, I participate in the Ace team and MGA.  At Chatham Hall before I transferred to Galileo, I was President of the LGBTQ+ club, I worked with the dance team, I was a part of the theatre group, I played Field Hockey, I was a part of Saint Mary's Choir, I was the captain of the videography and sound team, and I was part of the sustainability club.

What are your hobbies/what makes you special

My hobbies include drawing, both digitally and traditionally, photography, playing guitar, electric, acoustic, and bass, playing video games, building legos, watching movies and tv shows.  I enjoy singing, play the ukulele and piano, I enjoy going to car meets and autocross.  I love motorcycles and Bluey.

What is your favorite class/ who is your favorite teacher, and why?

My favorite class is tied between Wyatt Lee Carter's AP Biology class and Smith's AP US History class.  They're both just hilarious.  They bridge the gap between teaching and making the class interesting.  You can always look for something interesting to happen in their classes.  They're also just really good people.  They've helped me through a lot so I can always feel confident that I can talk to them about anything and they'll make me feel better or help me out. Whittaker is also a teacher I really like.  Though he is considered a sub, he has been my English teacher, essentially, for 2 years.  He's listened to a lot of my problems, and he makes fun of me while still offering helpful advice.

What senior would you want to be your sibling and why?

I think that I would want either Finn or Nevea to be my sibling.  They're both really funny and kind.  You can always count on them to help you through a tough time or be there for you.  I've known Finn for a while, so I could actively see myself being siblings with them.  They have helped me through a lot and continue to make me laugh every day.  They are such a cool person and I highly recommend everyone talk to them at least once before they graduate.  Nevea is just a really cool person.  They've been with me through a lot and I know I can count on them.  I know that they can always make me have a fun time while still being able to hold me accountable.  Anyways, vote Finn for Prom King 2023, unproblematic king.

Without saying their name, describe a person that you have had or currently have a secret crush on.

Honestly, no one.  Currently, I'm dating the coolest person ever.  He likes to skate, play video games, loves star wars, and video games.  He’s a great person who has introduced me to a lot of things that I really enjoy.  He’s extremely genuine and insightful, incredibly kind.  He’s extremely smart and talented.  He does a lot for me, without me asking.  He’s incredibly caring and I’m super lucky to have him in my life.

What is your most memorable memory at Galileo?

Either just bothering Johnny Cressel with Nevea, Whittaker's class these past two years when we got to talk about anything and everything, Powderpuff when Cressel injured me (I’m still holding that grudge), Carter’s AP Biology Class, Smith’s AP US class, or the Ace trip to states with Carter and Smith.

What is your favorite quote from a teacher or fellow student?

I can't say as it may get someone in trouble, so instead, I offer a quote from Johnny Cressel, "Informally, I use the F Word."

What advice would you give your freshman self?

Leave Chatham Hall immediately, switch into Galileo sooner.  Don’t care about what anyone else thinks, what matters is that you are happy.  Focus on the things that you care about.  Go out of your way to solve your problems rather than just complaining about them.  Do the things that make you happy.  Pay close attention to the red flags that people are very obviously showing you that you choose to ignore.

What is the theme song of your life?

Acolyte by Slaughter Beach Dog or Treat People With Kindness by Harry Styles

What is an unpopular opinion you have?

The prequels of Star Wars are better than the original trilogy.  Jar Jar Binx sucks though.  Also Clone Wars is the best Star Wars series.

What are you passionate about in life?

I am incredibly passionate about everyone having equal opportunities to thrive and survive.  No one should be dying on the streets without housing or without healthcare.  Everyone should have equal opportunity to get the healthcare they deserve.  Everyone should have equal opportunities to thrive in society.  Everyone should be able to be themselves.

What is your philosophy/motto in life?

My life is a very complicated legal beverage drinking game
