I'Shia Poteat

I’shia Poteat is a senior in the graduating class of 2022. She has been at Galileo since her freshman year, and plans to go to college, but is currently undecided.

What are your achievements/ clubs?

I became the president of Glee Club. I have been the secretary and the treasurer of JETS. I’m also in Theater Guild, and I play the narrator in Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.

What are your hobbies/ what makes you special?

I started dancing when I was three, and I’m still doing it. It’s my last year of dance as well. I do lyrical, tap, jazz, hip-hop, I used to do ballet, all sorts.

What is your favorite teacher/ class and why?

Mrs. Vater, and probably IB psych. I’ve always been interested in how the brain works, and that class gives you a deep-dive into it.

What senior would you want to be your sibling and why?

I would probably choose Denasia Garland, because when Mrs. Shanks was here, she always used to say we looked alike. I don’t see it but she’s also very calm, and I feel like I would get annoyed by her.

Without saying their name, describe a person that you have had or currently had a secret crush on.

Dark hair, not that tall… not tall at all, and very pretty.

What is your favorite memory at Galileo?

Freshman year, the power went out at school. Me and a group of my friends we had concept physics with Mrs. Fain, and we just played uno in the dark and ate rice crispy treats, it was really fun.

What advice would you give your freshman self?

Just go with the flow and don’t worry about anything.

What is an unpopular opinion you have?

Pineapple on pizza is really good.

What is something you believe with all your heart?

I believe that anyone can do anything they want to achieve, you have to really want it though.

What is something you hope is different about the world ten years from now?

I hope there’s less violence.

What is your philosophy/ motto in life?

Believe and you can achieve.
