Spotlight on: Summer Learning

As the school year comes to an end, we want to highlight ways in which your child can continue to engage in learning over the Summer. We will be holding our annual Summer Challenge, which includes a variety of fun and educational activities for your child to complete before next school year begins. This year, there are two different Summer Activity Challenges and three different Summer Reading Challenges. Students who complete the requirements of these challenges will receive a surprise motivational ticket when we return to school. You can find a sample Summer Activity Grid and a sample Summer Reading Challenge included below.

This year, we are happy to share Camp Kinda as an additional Summer resource. Camp Kinda is a free, at-home summer experience designed to keep kids in kindergarten through eighth grade stay engaged in learning while they are at home. The link to access Camp Kinda is: https://campkinda.org/welcome. To register, you will need to scroll to the bottom of the page; please use code KINDA2020.

In addition, all of our students can access www.Brainpop.com. We also recommend that our students utilize Prodigy or Lexia Core5 as additional learning platforms throughout the Summertime to continue practicing and sharpening their skills.

If you have questions about any of these Summer options for your child, please contact your Family Therapist. We wish you all a happy and healthy Summer!

Consent Forms Process:

As a reminder, if you have not received consent forms in the mail, or if you have any questions as you are completing the forms, please contact your Family Therapist as soon as possible. We appreciate your help as we plan for school year 2020-2021 and thank you for completing the forms and mailing them back by July 1 using the self-addressed, stamped envelope provided.

Dear Parents & Guardians,

We hope this Weekly Update finds you well. As we enter our final week of remote learning for this school year we would like to emphasize the many opportunities for continued Bioeducational experiences. Please help your child participate in their lessons to finish up on a positive note.

Given the shutdown and the transition to remote learning, there were many fun events our students were unable to experience in the last month of school. In an effort to promote participation, and end with some fun, this week is Spirit Week with a chosen theme on each day. The themes are cluster based and have been posted on homeroom streams.

Also, on the last day of school we traditionally have a family celebration in homerooms with support staff. This is a tradition that allows staff and students to celebrate and reflect on the school year, enjoy some fun time together and experience some closure to the school year. Homeroom support staff have planned fun group activities that will engage and include everyone during Morning Meeting. We hope that all students participate!

Warm Regards,

Peter Lang, M.Ed., Principal
