"Hi, I'm Giulia D.
During an extremely involving meeting with our new friends from abroad - Sofia and Mithil from Costa Rica and India respectively - one of my classmates recorded the lesson . With the teacher, Sofia and Mithil's permission, of course, we decided to edit it and also to keep on recording all the interesting lessons that followed, so as to share feelings and emotions together with some precious information about different Cultures and traditions around the World!
Disclaimer: I'm not a professional videomaker, it is just a hobby for me!
I hope that you'll like it. Enjoy watching the video!"
Welcome back to this intriguing, captivating, entertaining and full-of-peculiarity lesson about... COSTA RICA!
In fact, Sofia led us among the prosperous forests, crystalline waters, adorable animals, delicious food and awesome traditional colourful clothes of Costa Rica.
We also asked Sofia and Mith about their free time activities.
"Pictures paint a thousand words", so let's not get lost in useless words and let's watch the video to discover what they answered!
Bye for now,
Giulia
Questions, questions and other questions... "Interview day"!
In this lesson we did two interviews: Alice and Vittoria asked about Schools and Education Systems in India and Costa Rica, Danna and Alessandro asked about food and culinary traditions...
We all tried to compare and contrast our different Cultures and traditions, to find similarities and differences: it was all so engaging!
Did you know that in Costa Rica and India there is no division between lower secondary school and upper secondary? Well, I didn't.
So let's watch the video and discover other intriguing and curious facts about Costa Rica and India.
Bye for now,
Giulia
Another interview day!
In this lesson we discuss about some relevant issues like crime and drug dealing, laws and environmental problems.
We discovered how India and Costa Rica's justice system works.
We also got to know two interesting associations Mith and Sofia are part of: Adhamya Chetana and Club Leo.
To know more about these two associations, let’s watch the video.
Bye!
Giulia
Last EDUCHANGE lesson... what a pity!
We've arrived at the end of this amazing path.
In this last lesson, we went on with some questions about crime, focusing on tricky, delicate and captivating questions like cyberbullying, death penalty, and euthanasia.
We also discussed some environmental issues and found out about some relevant Associations that help the Environment.
As for me, firstly I learned so much from this experience: the mouthwatering fingerlicking experience of food in Costa Rica, the charming colours of amazing India, how to protect the Environment and the way other people around the World are working to save our Planet! ... How many things!
Secondly, I learned to communicate: well, I began to learn how to communicate, as I am still learning.
I also learned how to express my opinion, to compare and contrast different opinions, and the most important thing: to respect others' opinions.
Finally, I learned how to protect and respect the Environment!
Thank you all.
Goodbye,
Giulia
EDUCHANGE PROJECT: A WONDERFUL FORMATIVE EXPERIENCE
During the last few weeks of January and February, our class participated in an activity called “EDUCHANGE PROJECT”.
The purpose of this activity is to allow us to practice English language better, to get to know more words, and also to meet and discover new Cultures, people and places. In fact, thanks to Mith and Sophia, the two students that participate in this Project, we saw and learned new things about India and Costa Rica, the Countries they come from respectively.
To begin with, Mith and Sophia showed us a power point and a short video about their home countries. Thanks to them I discovered many interesting aspects. For example, the meaning of the colours of the Country's flag, the typical food, religion, national sports... The places I saw in the pictures were awesome, magic and colourful.
Moreover, they revealed some curious aspects of the school in their countries: what struck me the most was when Sophia told us that in her high-school, some people could even learn to go surfing. In my opinion, this is an extraordinary and very funny thing.
We also dealt with environmental issues: I discovered that Mith is part of an association that is called ''Adhamya Chetana'' , and one of their hashtags is #greensunday. They plant trees every Sunday, and for this reason they help Nature and the natural environment. While Sophia is part of the ''Club Leo'': they clean the beaches, but they also help poor people and animals.
Before we started this project, we classmates had been divided into groups, and during the lessons we asked them questions about different topics like crime, social and environmental issues, personality, future, relationships, education, passions, sports, to find out more about them and to get to know them better.
Personally, I found this activity very intriguing, useful and engaging. Moreover, it’s very captivating to talk with people that are from other Countries. For this reason, we had the opportunity to learn new things about places around the world, and this is so exciting.
Mith and Sophia are very kind and helpful, and I’m very thankful I could meet them.
EDUCHANGE PROJECT: AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE!
A few weeks ago we welcomed two very special guests from two different countries, Sofia from Costa Rica and Mithil from India. To welcome these two university students we had prepared and shared some interviews on different topics, such as food and cooking, Arts, free time activities, personality and relationships, future, crime and some main issues related to the Natural Environment.
Not only did Mith aswer our questions, but he also presented his country of origin with a short video. Later on, he showed us a power point: I was fascinated by the intense and bright colours of the Holi Fest, by the architecture of the monuments, by the traditional customs that are different troughout India. Even Culture and the spoken language vary from area to area and from the typical dishes which looked really delicious, Mithil also told us that the national animals are the tiger and the royal peacock - in my opinion two gorgeous animals.
At the end of his presentation, Mith told us something about currency, agriculture, homemade crafts and religion - which is not only Hindu, but it is also Christian, Buddhist and Muslim.
In the following lesson Sofia, explained different things about Costa Rica.
Sofia also presented a short video, and then a power point: from her explanation, we understood that Costa Rica is an ex Spanish colony that has currently a peaceful social situation. Costa Rica has a rich and healthy Natural Environment, adequately protected: in fact there are numerous national parks, well known all over the world. The currency of Costa Rica are the “colones”, its capital is San Jose and in this country the main language is Spanish.
Costa Rica is also famous for its water sports, which I would like to try one day because they seemed very funny and captivating from the photos Sofia showed us. She also told us what the typical dishes of her Country are, and in my opinion the “Platano” is my favourite because when I was in Colombia - which is my mother’s Country of origin - I ate it and I found it exquisite.
At the end of her presentation, Sofia taught us some slang words in Spanish, to be able to say “friends” or “party” in other different ways we can use, even if we don’t study this language: I really enjoyed it!
I found this experience exciting and above all educational, because I have learnt a lot about two very different cultures with their own habits and traditions, and on top of that we also managed to communicate using English, something that is very important nowadays.
I’m thankful to my English teacher for giving us this opportunity.
BEST EXPERIENCE EVER !!!
Our class had the unbelievable opportunity to be involved into the 'EduChange Project'.
We started this awsome experience on the 15th January 2020: we met Sophia and Mit, two students from Costa Rica and India respectively. To start with, we played a game, just to break the ice and to get to know each other better. Everyone had to say their name and an adjective that started with the first letter of their name: I was Introverted Ilaria! This game was pretty fun.
Sophia is more charismatic and talkative, while Mit isn’t as talkative as Sophia. However, from my point of view both of them have a heart of gold! They seemed extremely ambitious and easy going.
Our class had prepared some questions for our special guests, because, you know... we don’t know many things about them and their countries which are just a bit far away from us. The first group to ask them the questions was the one composed by Sara, Maila and me. We asked them some questions about their personalities and their plans for the future. Both of them were extremely involved into this activity, they seemed extremely fascinated by our questions. Of course we all took some notes because their answers were extremely thorough. In addition to that, we saw Mit’s presentation, and it was awesome, brilliant and fascinating. We discovered loads of unexpected curiosities about him and his own country. For instance: did you know that the national animal of India is the tiger? And have you ever asked yourself why there is a wheel in the centre of the Indian flag? Well, I will give you the answer: that symbol represents the 24 hours of constant progress.
The first thing that cought my attention about Mith's presentation were the colours: everything in the Indian culture is extremely colourful and expresses joy, happiness and cheerfulness. You see how intriguing and thought provoking learning new things is?
At the beginning of the second lesson, Mit narrated a motivational story, which is well known in India. After that, Martina and Jasmine asked a few questions about their personality.
During the third lesson, Sophia showed us her presentation: I am absolutely enchanted by Costa Rica, I swear that one day I will move for a month in Costa Rica! Thanks to Sophia, I have realized that i love the energy and the positive vibes that this country gives to the people. Did you know that Costa Rica doesn’t have an army? This fact shocked me, it’s a little bit strange, but this is one of the most peaceful Countries in the world! After that, Elisa and Viola asked some questions about free time activities.
During the third meeting, we got the opportunity to know something more about schools and the Educational Systems. Did you know that in Costa Rica and in India there is no difference between middle school and high school? Well, I didn't. This is absolutely weird!
In the fourth lesson, we talked about crime and social issues. I observed that in Costa Rica there is as much crime as in Italy, there are as many arsonists and drug dealers as in Italy.
Unluckily, we have only 2 meetings left: this gorgeous activity is almost at the end, however, everyone in the class is writing a report/article, and in this way we will improve our English skills and remember what we have learned so far about India and Costa Rica and of course, our opinions.
An issue that is close to my heart is the natural Environment! In india and Costa Rica there are a lot of environmental organizations: it is amazing to discover how all around the world people care about this topic that affects our daily lives.
Regarding my personal point of view, this experience was AMAZING, formative and educational.
Firstly I learned loads of things about new cultures, and I also improved my English, even if I am an introverted person.
I am glad that Ms Malausa let us have this chance of improving our English, thanks to this activity, and not with the 'usual and boring school System', because you know... I seldom find a lesson intriguing when the teacher is the only person talking into the room ;)
I suggest that schools organise more projects like this one, because you know, it’s the best way to practise a foreign language.
EDUCHANGE PROJECT: A CHANCE TO DISCOVER OTHER CULTURES!
From January 15th to February 12th, my class and I had the amazing opportunity to meet Mit and Sofia: two foreign university students. They came to our school to share with us their incredible cultures and some suprising facts about them: this is a 6 weeks long project called "Educhange Project".
Mit and Sofia were hosted by Italian families, therefore they were completely surrounded by our own cultures and habits. One thing they immediatly agreed on is that Italian food is amazing!
They came to our class each Wednesday during these five weeks. The first lesson, we were a bit insecure and shy, so we played a small game to break the ice. Afterwards, we asked them a few questions to get to know them and I personally really enjoyed that part. I find it extremely intriguing getting to know different habits and differents ways of living. we asked them our questions about a lot of topics each lesson, so that we could understand how everything works in their countries.
We then saw the enthralling presentations they had prepared. Mit showed us everything about India. I loved it. India is such a colourful and happy place, I am extremely fascinated by it. I'm also really intrigued by the typical food, I would like to try it.
Sofia is from Costa Rica. The places she showed were simply gorgeous, I was mesmerised by the biodiversity and the stunning nature of that country. I am really glad I discovered some of these amazing places.
We had to speak English of course, therefore these lessons were extremely useful to improve our speaking skills.
I am extremely grateful to have had this opportunity. I believe that in order to become fully open-minded, it's important to get to know other cultures, so this was the perfect occasion! I've always been so fascinated by foreign people and I feel lucky to have had the chance to meet and know these awesome students. Mit and Sofia are fascinating people and I'm glad we talked to them.
EDUCHANGE PROJECT: A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!
Before Christmas 2019 our English teacher told us about a Project we were going to participate in, in the following weeks: this project consisted in dividing us into groups and formulating questions about different topics and contexts, and then meeting two foreign students who would come to our class to talk us about their Countries. These two students come from two different parts of the world and are Sofia and Mithil.
One of them, Sofia, is from Costa Rica and she attends Enginering at university; the other one, Mithil, is from india and he attends a Rumanian University where he studies scientific subjects such as Biology.
In the first lessons , we introduced ourselves and we talked about our future projects and our dreams.
In the second lesson, Mithil presented a PowerPoint about India, in which he showed us a video about their Culture, typical foods, traditional clothes, religion, and then we asked him some questions.
In the third lesson, Sofia presented her PowerPoint about Costa Rica: personally, I think it was very nice to see animals, nature, the typical food... and then she talked about traditional clothes, schools and the various activities they do at school.
Finally, during the last lessons we finished interviewing them, asking the various questions of our groups.
It was fun and interesting to discover similarities and differences between Countries, and hear different accents of the same language: English
EDUCHANGE PROJECT: AN ENGAGING EXPERIENCE!
A few weeks ago two students, Myth and Sofia, arrived in our school.
Before the meeting, our English teacher proposed to write some interviews and these interviews dealt with food, education, crime and Natural Environment, sport and other interesting topics.
Myth and Sofia are sociable and open minded students: Myth comes from India and in the first lesson, after some questions, showed us a Power Point presentation about his Country. In this Power Point he showed us the gorgeus colours of India, the typical food, the currency, the main monuments and the flag.
I really enjoyed watching and learning about the interesting and creative people that live in India.
In the following lesson we started again with some questions, in this case about sport, and then Sofia decided to show us her Power Point presentation about her own Country, Costa Rica.
In my opinion, Sofia's Power Point was fantastic: so colourful and captivatig! In addition to the explanation of the flags, she told about the history of her Country and other aspects, and she asked some questions, like in an intriguing quiz.
The most amazing topic in her Power Point was biodiversity: all the different species of animals and plants present in Costa Rica, the 6% f the whole World.
Honestly, I found this experience extremely enjoyable, helpful, definitely amazing.
EDUCHANGE PROJECT: AN INTRIGUING EXPERIENCE WITH MITHIL AND SOFIA!
A few weeks ago, two foreign students came to our class: Mithil from India and Sofia from Costa Rica.
They spent one hour per week with us, talking about their own Countries, and they showed us some videos and presentations. Mithil's video was about the Culture and the intriguing colours of India. Sofia amazed us with a captivating video of the breath taking nature of Costa Rica instead. Moreover, I have to say that while I was watching her video, I immediatly felt the need to travel to Costa Rica and spend hours in that huge and misterious Nature.
After that, they showed us heir presentations about the cultural and historical aspect of their Countries. And then, they proposed two quizzes: in Mithil's quiz we had to guess someone in a photo. In Sofia's quiz, we had to guess the meaning of some words in the language of Costa Rica.
EDUCHANGE PROJECT: AN INSPIRING EXPERIENCE
For the first time, on 15th January 2020 we met two university students partecipating in the 'EduChange' project: Mithil, from India, and Sofia, from Costa Rica.
At the beginnig of the first lesson, we presented ourselves with a game proposed by Mithil: we had one minute to search for an adjective that started with the initial of our name - for example my name starts with S, so my adjective was Shy.
After that, three of my classmates started asking some questions that we had prepared in class: at the end of the interwiew, Mit showed us a fantastic, engaging presentation of India. At the end of the lesson, I learned a lot about Indian traditions, history, festivals, religion...
On the 22nd of January, the second lesson with Mit and Sofia started early in the morning. This lesson began with a story narrated by Mithil: when he finished narrating, Martina and Jasmine started to ask some questions about ''Relationships''. The two students said that both their parents encouraged them when they took their decision: for example, when Mit and Sofia wanted to play footbal or do some other activities, their parents just said "go and play football or do what you'd like to do"!
When Mit finished his presentation, he involved us in an engaging quiz about India to see if we had been paying attention to what he told us through the 17 slides he had prepared.
On the 29th of January there was the third lesson with the two students of the EduChange project. The lesson started with a colourful, engaging presentation about Costa Rica showed by Sofia. I got to know a lot of captivating things. For example, I discovered that in Costa Rica there are spectacular animals, quiet places (personally I love the waterfall and the beach), and the colours of the flag have specific meanings: blue represents the sky of Costa Rica, white represents the peaceful Country, red represents the blood of the patriots fighting for freedom.
Costa Rica is situated in Central America and its capital city is San Jose. Costa Rica has 3 important historical events: Indipendence Day, on 15th September; 25th of July, when the neutral country begun; 1st December, when Costa Rica decided to be a peaceful and neutral Country.
In Costa Rica there are a lot of intriguing festival, traditions and costumes and one of the most important festival is The Festival of Lights and it is celebrated at Independence Day. There are a lot of typical dishes like plantain, gallo pinto (rice and beans). People eat this food for breakfast because they eat a lot in the morning.
At the end of her presentation, Sofia showed some words in Spanish and we had to guess the right meaning. After that, Elisa and Viola started to ask some questions about their free time.
On 5th February, the fourth lesson with the two fantastic students took place. The lesson started with a captivating video that Giulia had edited and published. The, we also asked questions about schools and education, and about food.
EDUCHANGE PROJECT: AN INVOLVING EXPERIENCE
'EduChange Project' is a fantastic way to get to know other cultures: we met Mithil and Sofia, two foreign students from India and Costa Rica. They came for the first time to our class on 15th January 2020, and they kept on coming to our class every Wednesday for about six weeks.
The first activity they proposed at the beginning of the first lesson consisted in saying an adjective wich represented ourselves: the adjective had to start with the first letter of our names. After that, we could ask them loads of captivating questions regarding their lives and their personalities. Then, Mithil showed a part of his amazing PowerPoint about India. In my opinion it was awsome: the presentation started with a song and a colourful videoclip. Mith explained some aspects of his country, but he had to stop because the bell rang.
On January 29th, Mith and Sophie came again to our class. We started the lesson with Sophia’s presentation regarding her wonderful country: Costa Rica. The video showed magnificent pictures of an uncontaminated nature: moreover, there were loads of free and awesome animals and huge forests.
Then Sophie presented her country like Mith had done the week before. She talked about geography, history and typical food of Costa Rica. At the end of the meeting she proposed us an intriguing quiz: we had to guess the meaning of some words in her language. It was harder than I expected!
At the beginning of the next lesson, on February 5th, our classmate Giulia showed a part of her fantastic presentation regarding the previous lessons.
After that, we could go on with our interviews. One of the groups asked the two guests about their studies and their schools: then, another group asked them questions about food.
The best parts of these meetings were certainly the interviews: I think this was the best way to get to know Mith and Sophie and to improve our English skills.
We met Sophia and Mith on February 12th, too: my group could finally ask them our intriguing questions about the environment and crime in their countries. I really enjoyed this lessons, because I found the topics definitely captivating. We could deal with the issue of drugs and the huge problems connected with the pollution as well: we talked about youth movements against environmental issues, too.
Besides, we asked other questions regarding crime on February 19th. Unfortunately, Mithil was absent and we could talk only with Sophie.
We found out that Costa Rica is a really safe place to live: for example, you can walk in the streets in the night without worrying (except if you live in the capital), and it is not dangerous to leave your home’s door open during the day. Well, now I certainly want to travel to Costa Rica!
From my point of view, it was amazing to have every week a lesson with these two students: they were both friendly, and I’m sure we all have felt comfortable with them. I think teachers should propose more projects like this, because these meetings with foreign students are definitely more engaging and inspiring than a normal lesson!
EDUCHANGE MEETING
In January and February 2020 , we met Mithil and Sophia, two university students from India and Costa Rica. Meeting them was so wonderful and extremely engaging!
The first lesson was about a presentation of ourselves, to get to know one another better: it was very interesting. After that, Mithil started narrating a motivational story. Then, we students (the first group) started to ask questions about their personality and their families and friends. The first question was about leaving home for their studies: Sofia said that she studies at a University which is five hours by train away from home! Mithil studies in Budapest, so he is very far from home indeed.
The second question was about choices and their family support: they both said that their family are always very supportive. Another important questions was about learning a foreign language and communicating with foreigners: they are both open minded, so they said they had never had any difficulties.
Mith and Sofia keep in touch with their friends and families every day: however, leaving their families was so hard, and it was emotional to speak about it. They miss family so much!
Mithil showed us the presentation he created about his County: India. It was very interesting and captivating, and he asked us what we liked about the video. The following lesson, Sophia showed a presentiation of her Country - Costa Rica. It was so stimulating, awesome: she also asked us what we liked about the video. After that, another group asked them questions about free time activities: they both like watching fims; Sophia loves romantic comedies and Mithil loves thrillers.
We asked them questions about food: Mithil's favourite food is punner but he really likes pasta, Sophia's favourite food is chefrivo (risotto) but she eats pasta every day. They both love salty and sweet food! But Sophia said she's a sweet-tooth - more than Mith!
EDUCHANGE PROJECT: REPORT
On the first lesson of 'Educhange Project' we met Mithil, a smiling Indian boy, and Sofia, a friendly girl who arrived from Costa Rica. The main theme of this Project is 'Enviromment', and students from all over the world visit foreign countries to meet young people and discuss with them about there own countries.
We interviewed Mit and Sofia about different topics such as family, social medias, food and hobbies, crime and social-environmental issues in their Countries. Then, we watched Mithil's presentation about India. It was really colourful and captivating , he showed us the architecture of India, the traditional clothes, theb typical food, the national animal and bird of India.
We also watched Sofia's video about Costa Rica. It was engaging and surprising, it had really breathtaking images. After the video sofia asked us what we liked about it, then she told us about Costa Rica flag and what the colours mean. She also presented us the most important historical event which is the independence day on 15th September, she showed us a picture of the lights festival, the traditional clothes and the typical food. She explained us that Costa Rica is really rich in biodiversity: even if it is a small country compared to Italy, it has about 6% of the world’s biodiversity.
We had another funny activity: she told us a word in Spanish and we had to guess the meaning. Some looked easy but they were not, for example the word “mea” that we thought means “sea” but means “bro” (brother). Others were impossible. On the last lesson we asked some other questions.
EDUCHANGE PROJECT: a captivating experience, report
On 15th January 2020, the Educhange Project finally started. Educhange Project gives you the possibility of meeting two foreign students and to improve your English. We met Mitil and Sofia. Mitil is a bloke that comes from India and lives in Hungary, he is studying Biology. Sophia comes from Costa Rica and she is studying Engineering.
The Project started with Mit’s presentation about India; he talked about food, cultures, languages, festivals and economics, and I discovered lots of interesting and captivating things about this country. After that, we asked some questions about him and his life. Also Sofia showed us her presentation about Costa Rica and she explained that Costa Rica is a peaceful country and also how people lived there, and some historical facts. They also played a game with us, a kind of quiz. After that, we asked some more questions to them, like in an interview. The questions had different topics, like future and personality, movies, food, family, crime and Natural Environment.
I can say that personally I like this kind of activities because I can learn something about other countries and Cultures, but also because I can get to know how it feels to be living and studying alone in another country, without my friends and my family.
I am very thankful to Mitil and Sofia because they were very polite with us and because they certainly spent a lot of time preparing their presentation.
EDUCHANGE PROJECT
Sofia and Mit, are two university students from Costa Rica and South-India. We met them for the first time on 15th January 2020 and for six weeks they came every Wednesday for an hour.
Sofia studies industrial design and Mit studies biology in Budapest. Sofia is extremely creative and reserved but she becomes more talkative when she gets to know a person. However, she said that she's sociable and spontaneus. Moreover, she also said that she likes to have the controll of everything so she feels safer.Mit is eighteen and he moved to Budapest for study, he said that he always liked biology and math and that before moving for university, he was quite introvert . In particullar, he used to stay at home to study insted of go out with friends. They both said that they became more uindipendent when they started university.
Now that they are here in Italy , they are being hosted by italian families even though they don't speak italian they don't speak italian. Moreover , they both said that they fell in love with italian dishes!
Me and my class prepared some questions for interwieu them, with topics such as relationships with friends and family, sports and food. They were extremely polite , despite sometimes we couldn't explain what we meant.
In the first lesson we did , we were all a little bit shy, therefore we did a great and enjoyable little game , in which we had to say an adjective starting by the first kletter of our name.
Mit and Sofia, also presented their countries: Mit explained us that india has twentynine states and each one of those are different from the others. India is an extremely huge country , actually it has got more than
EDUCHANGE PROJECT: AN OPPORTUNITY TO GET TO KNOW DIFFERENT CULTURES...
Liceo 'Percoto' decided to participate in the "EduChange Project", a useful and intriguing project welcoming two students, Sofia and Mithil, who come from Costa Rica and India resepctively.
They are two college students who are now attending few weeks at Liceo 'Percoto'. They work with the English teachers of our school, with the objective of making us know their Country and discuss about different topics, like the Environment.
Sofia and MIthil can't speak Italian, that's the reason why we had to communicate with them exclusively in English, which is an excellent effort, if we want to improve our speaking skills in this language. Since they come from two different countries, we got used to listen to very different accents. That's the thing I liked the most about this project.
Even before meeting Mit and Sofia, my classmates and I were enthusiastic about this piece of news, even though at the same time we felt skeptical and shy. During the first lesson, we got to know one another with a tricky game to break the ice. Mit invented the game!
After that, Mit showed his presentation about his magnificent Country, India. From his presentation, I learned loads of new things I didn't know before, such as the national animal and the current President of India. Moreover, I really appreciated the breathtaking lanscapes, the exquisite typical food that I'd like to taste one day, and the colourful clothes.
In the following meetings, Sofia presented Costa Rica: wealthy in waterfalls and gorgeous animals.
We tried to make Sofia and MIthil feel comfortable, interviewing them. We asked them questions about several topics we had prepared before the starting of the project, like sports and food. In this way, we had the opportunity to get to know them and their Cultures better.
Educhange Project is bound to finish in two weeks: this means that we won't have any other lessons with Sofia and Mit. However, we can stay in touch via Instagram.
In conclusion, I think that it would be an amazing idea to propose this Project next year too, maybe welcoming two students from other countries.
EDUCHANGE PROJECT: AN INTRIGUING EXPERIENCE!
In January 2020, Liceo 'Percoto' organized an engaging project to get to know people and cultures from all over the word.
We met two foreign students, Sofia and Mit, who told us about their life and their Country.
The boy comes from India and the girl is from Costa Rica. We asked them some questions about their future plans and personality. After few minutes the boy, Mit, showed us a mini movie about India. In the film there were amazing pictures of his country, smiling people and beautiful colors. Mit also told us that there are 29 states in India and there are 24 official languages spoken, plus there are about 350 dialects. Mit introduced us to some Indian holidays, events like the “Holi“ or “Diwali” and traditions, but he also illustrated some of the most famous monuments such as the Taj-mahal. At the end of the lesson Mit introduced the topic of the seven wonders of the world which also includes the Taj-mahal.
In the second lesson Mit played a quiz with us about his previous presentation about India. After the intriguing game a cuple of my classmates asked them some questions about relationship. I really enjoyed meeting the two foreign students
During the third lesson, Sophie described her country of origin, Costa Rica, tre biodiversity, the meanings of the colors of the flag (blue, white and red), she also illustrated the geography of the country saying that it is a small but peaceful state and the government prefers to spend money in educating young people rather than in maintaining the army. Sophie also introduced us to some of the most important festive events such as July 15 th, the independence day from Spain. The girl illustrated the typical Costa Rican dishes based on rice, meat and plantain. At the end of the presentation she submitted us to a short test about her State.
During the lfourth lesson a group of classmates asked some questions about the school system of the two guys’ homeland which is different from ours in Italy. We also watched a video edited by our classmate Giulia about the previous lesson.
Report on EduChange lessons
by Giulia D.
From 13th January to 21st February we participated into a project called 'EduChange Project', with the participation of two exchange students: Sofia Corrales Villalobos from Costa Rica and Mithil Barath from India.
The Project normally lasts six weeks, and we met Sofia and Mithil every Wednesday in the first lesson of the day. The main theme of this project was the environment.
On 15th January 2020, we met Sofia and Mithil for the first time. At the beginning of the lesson, we played a game to “break the ice”: the game consisted in saying our name and an adjective that described us, with the fist letter of our name.
Sofia and Mith introduced themselves with a short oral presentation. After that, Maila, Ilaria and Sara M. interviewed Sofia and Mithil with questions about their personality. We concluded the lesson with the view of a video-presentation about India created by Mithil.
On 22nd January 2020, we had the second lesson with Sofia and Mithil. Mithil started the lesson with a motivational story about patience. After the motivational story, Martina and Jasmine asked Sofia and Mithil about their personality. We went on with Mithil’s presentation and we concluded the lesson with a quiz about India.
On 29th January 2020, we had the third lesson with Sofia and Mithil. Sofia showed us her presentation about Costa Rica, we concluded the presentation with a quiz in which Sofia gave us slang words from Costa Rica, and we were supposed to guess the meaning. We concluded the lesson with questions about free time activities asked by Elisa and Viola.
On 5th February 2020, we had the fourth lesson with Sofia and Mithil. Alice and Vittoria asked them about the education system in their country. Danna and Alessandro interviewed them as well: they asked questions about food and cooking.
On 12th February 2020 we had the fifth lesson with Sofia and Mithil. We finished with questions about food and cooking, and we also asked about crime and social issues in their countries: we discussed big issues like pollution and drugs.
