The European Union, a safe place to grow up and shine
The European Union works as a collaboration between 27 countries aimed at common political, economic and humanistic interests. It is the setting of different states that want to improve economic and political well-being to avoid conflicts. The European Union has many advantages, which is why many states would like to be part of it, but also some disadvantages.
On one hand there are some advantages. The European Union assures its citizens peace and security in fact, in recent decades there have been neither wars and nor minor conflicts between member states. In addition to that , the European Union is against any kind of discrimination. Finally, thanks to the Schenghen agreements, European countries have introduced the free movement of people within borders.
On the other hand, there are some disadvantages. The first that comes to mind is that European countries pay more taxes than anywhere else. In addition, free mobility increases the risk of terrorist attacks according to some.
As for me, despite some negative points, being part of the European Union is a huge privilege. This is because the EU gives young people the chance to travel and interact with other cultures of the member countries in a very simple way and at reasonable prices.
In conclusion, I consider the EU a valid tool to grant a better future: I am proud to be part of this union of independent, diverse but collaborating cultures.
