When I think about the European Union I immediately think about my future and how glad and lucky I am to be born in this amazing and powerful Union founded back in 1957. To me, this amazing bond between 27 countries represents an incredible opportunity to maintain peace, stability, freedom and solidarity.

In first place, I strongly believe that nowadays we take some of the values I have listed before such as peace, stability and freedom for granted, however if we dig deeper we can understand that these values are incredibly fundamental for our growth and that it took centuries to get all the countries in one place to discuss with words rather than bullets, and thereby having peace that brought an economic stability and freedom: just imagine how different would our life be without the right to be whoever we want, go wherever we love, say what we think and get an education.

Secondly I’m utterly convinced that solidarity is a must, even though it is not always respected in all occasions by all the members states. For instance, when we deal with immigration some of the countries step back and act a little selfish and don’t help people in need and they leave the other countries alone pretending they don’t have an issue.

Despite that, I can state my position and say that to me the European Union is “united in diversity” because there are so many countries that are part of it and allow the respect of fundamental common values, even if they have different cultures. Some countries should not be as selfish as they are, but I really trust them and I am sure they will work this out.

To sum up, I strongly support and trust this Union because it means so much to me since it gives me the chance to dream about a better future and the hope it will least forever and it will enhance our main values even more.
