Europe is a continent with unprecedented opportunities for political unification, which can ensure that everyone in it enjoys long-term Peace, respect for laws, Democracy, environmental sustainability, social justice and economic welfare, while having a positive impact on the rest of the world. Many people could follow this example in the following years, learn lessons from past mistakes and thus improve.
Although Europe is relatively small, I believe "diversity" is its strong point. In fact, all the cultures and traditions of the various countries that are part of it have found the opportunity to express themselves without constraints: indeed, they are encouraged to do so. Moreover, it is easier for other people to get to know each other thanks to the ease with which it is possible to travel around the European Union, and this has affected all countries on the continent. I am not only observing this process, but also a part of it.
However, I think that Europe, right now, does not grant equal benefits to all the countries that are within it. Indeed, larger countries such as France and Germany hold power within the Union and often safeguard interests related only to their own States, ignoring the problems of smaller ones. In addition to that, taking the euro as their currency, many countries, such as Italy, have seen the cost of living increase significantly while products manufactured in their own country have drastically decreased, favouring other States.
The European Union was created to give everyone the opportunity to express themselves, have the possibility to be connected with foreign people and the security of being protected, that's why I believe that Europe could be a wonderful project if only more solidarity was granted, especially with those who are facing issues that are unmanageable without cooperation.
I really hope that one day we will be able to reach that goal, leaving aside actions based only on business.
