A comprehensive round up of all things English Literature and Language

This term our Key Stage 3 students have been making good use of the library. Students have a library lesson every two weeks, and have recently been completing a variety of tasks.

These include:

  • Book reviews

  • Peer reading

  • IB MYP reading challenge

  • Acting out playscripts

  • Creating fact files based on non-fiction texts

Students have really enjoyed their time using the library and have said the following:

"The library lessons have been really useful for me to develop my vocabulary" - Max

"I really enjoy the library lessons as I can read there quietly without distractions"-Eliza

"I've found our lessons really relaxing and they help us put aside time each week to dedicate to reading"- Ana

Even the teachers have enjoyed the lessons:

"I enjoy watching the students discover new books!'"- Ms. Voller

"It's a great opportunity to model reading to the students...it's been lovely to see students inspired by our reading choices" - Miss Miller

Year 11 students have been busy revising for, and sitting their mock examinations this module. Every subject has had an examination in some form and this has been an important exercise for the students. Not only were they able to experience what it will be like to sit their formal examinations together in the Sports Hall, but it has also given them the opportunity to evaluate where they are in their journey to the finals in Summer 2023.

Teachers have been busy marking the papers to ensure that every student obtains feedback promptly.

The next timetabled mock examinations start at the end of January.
