We have had a really busy first two modules to start the new academic year as Mandela College. Our Year 7 students have settled well and it was lovely to meet a number of parents across Years 7, 8, 10 and 11 face to face, at our information evenings. It was also lovely to see a number of you attend the Mandela SEN coffee morning in September as well, and meet the Inclusion Team. In Module 2, we had our service of Remembrance, and have celebrated the Module 1 successes of our Mandela students with our League of Excellence assemblies. We are particularly proud of Mandela College's success in the academy literacy challenges; with the top three students across the whole academy being Mandela students. Congratulations to Amily in Mandela 2, Isabella in Mandela 10 and Guiliana in Mandela 11.
The college has undergone a major refurbishment in line with our saying "farewell" to Chaucer and "welcome" to Mandela College.
We will celebrate our college figurehead day on Mandela Day on 18th July and there will more news about the plans for that in the next few months.
Mandela Field Activities Day- 6th October 2022
In Module 1, we were able to run the field activities that were postponed in the summer due the extreme heat. Years 7, 8 and 9 had a great time trying out all of the inflatable activities and opportunities to play Laser Quest, inflatable human football, inflatable volleyball and take part on an inflatable assault course.
Huge congratulations to Omario in Year 10. During the half term break, Omario won the National Novice Boxing Championship in a very convincing knock-out! Here he is celebrating his success with his coaching team.
