Duke of Edinburgh Award - 2022/23 Cohort

In Module 2, the new cohort of Year 9 students began their Duke of Edinburgh journey at The Leigh with their Bronze award.

Every Wednesday we meet to discuss and develop knowledge and skills surrounding everything students need to know to be successful on their 2 day walking expedition, which will take place in 2023. So far students have learnt new skills in map reading, the country code, special equipment and clothing and meal planning and cooking.

The students have also begun their volunteering section, which ranges from helping out at their local clubs or teams, to local churches or charities. We are extremely proud of their achievements so far and cannot wait to see how the students develop throughout the year.

We also have a group of Year 10 students who completed their Bronze awards last year and have continued on to the challenge of completing their Silver award as well!

Details of the Duke of Edinburgh prize evening, which will take place in the new year are to follow and is sure to be a wonderfully celebratory evening.
