Drama

In October, Box Clever performed 'Jekyll and Hyde’ to all year groups. This was a colourful stylised piece with dramatic lighting and an interactive workshop afterwards.

In Key stage 3, the students in Year 7 explored Greek Theatre, which introduced them to chorus, acting and myths. Year 8s looked at the process from page to stage through Dennis Kelly’s play ‘DNA’ and created some amazing scenes.

Year 9 have been learning about blocking, character and relationships on stage by selecting and performing xtracts from ‘Too Much Punch For Judy’ by Mark Wheeller. This was a mixture of stylised and naturalistic acting.

Year 10 have made incredible progress with ‘Things I Know To Be True’ where they performed monologues and duologues combined with the Frantic Assembly movement. This is part of their Btec Tech Award exam.

Year 11 completed in preparation for their Component 3 exam which starts in January. It was a culmination of the styles and techniques they have learnt over the years with dramatic story lines!

Year 12 are developing Unit 2 by creating Berkoff’s ‘East’ using extreme vocal expression and gesture. This is developing well and they will perform this in February 2023.

Year 13 finished their internal units with their Berkoff performance and are now completing the coursework. In addition they are preparing for their Unit 1 retake in January, and the release of their external Unit 3 exam.
