Marching Band Members and Parents,
We had a great preview performance at the game this past Friday and a productive rehearsal on Saturday! I hope that everyone had an enjoyable first week of school and is having a restful Sunday. This Saturday is our final Saturday without a competition performance until November (excluding Homecoming weekend) and the first time we will debut the show to our fans. To help us prepare right for this, I'd like to remind everyone of our three goals for the season. Members, ask yourself: what can I do this week to meet these?
GOAL #1:
FINISH THE SHOW. Get out of the learning phase.
GOAL #2:
Maximize EFFICIENCY with the time we are spending.
GOAL #3:
Set STANDARDS OF EXCELLENCE and follow through.
We are in the time of year where mornings/nights can be freezing cold and day time temperatures can feel like summer. Please check the weather the morning of each event and dress appropriately for it!

Tuesday/Thursday - After school rehearsal, 6 PM pickup
Wednesday *HORNLINE ONLY* - Swedesboro Patriot Day Ceremony
*students go home after school
5:00 - dress in uniform/warmup
6:00 - load buses/depart for Swedesboro
6:30 - Ceremony begins
7:30~ - Return to Kingsway/Dismissal
Friday - Football Home vs Timber Creek
After school - eat/relax (Wawa runs permitted, 2 TO A CAR. Eating in cafeteria ONLY.)
3:30 PM - Hornline/Battery Stand Tune Rehearsal (theater),
FE push to stadium, Guard sectionals
4:00 PM - dress/hair up. Shakos in tonight.
5:00 PM - lined up/march to stadium
5:40 PM - Pregame Show/tunnel
6:00 PM - Kickoff!
6:45 PM (est.) - HALFTIME PERFORMANCE! (pretzels provided after)
8:30 PM (est.) - Game ends/return to band room
9:00 PM (est.) - Dismissal after uniforms inspected
Saturday - FRIENDS AND FAMILY PREVIEW SHOW! **FACEBOOK EVENT PAGE**
Show dress: tour shirt, black shorts. You do NOT need to wear this during rehearsal.
9:00 AM - rehearsal begins
12:00 PM - lunch (bring/have dropped off)
4:30 PM - rehearsal ends, PIZZA PROVIDED
6:00 PM - Preview Show in Stadium!
7:00 PM - show ends/clean up/dismissal when completed

The Dragon Run is the annual event which our band program holds nearest to our hearts. Saturday, September 28th will be the 18th Annual Dragon Run - this event was created in honor of Nate Boerlin, an outstanding student musician who proudly marched in our band at Kingsway. The Nathaniel Boerlin Scholarship Fund was created in his memory and has been awarded for the past 17 years to graduating seniors in the music department who exhibit Nate's passions for learning and music - we look forward to once again awarding this year's scholarship to two outstanding members of the class of 2025!
It is tradition that the band performs for the opening ceremonies for the event followed by our band members either running or walking. While it is not required that each student register and purchase a shirt, the shirt will be our uniform for these morning performances. Anyone unable to register may wear a similar shirt for the event if necessary.
Students and family members should select KINGSWAY MARCHING BAND in the team dropdown menu - this will assist with collecting your shirts the day before the run.

Thanksgiving Parade Payment Due Tuesday
As discussed at our August parent meeting, payment for the Thanksgiving trip is due to the boosters on 9/10 (this Tues). If you need extra time, please communicate this to the Band Boosters via email at kingswaybandboosters@gmail.com.
