Marching Band Members and Parents,
CONGRATULATIONS - YOU'VE MADE IT TO THE FINAL WEEKLY UPDATE OF THE SEASON!!!
Think way back to our first info night in April. The three big goals for the season were set that we checked in with regularly throughout the season:
GOAL #1:
FINISH THE SHOW. Get out of the learning phase.
GOAL #2:
Maximize EFFICIENCY with the time we are spending.
GOAL #3:
Set STANDARDS OF EXCELLENCE and follow through.
I am proud to say all three goals were firmly met! Congratulations on completing yet another outstanding season, and for shaping a new era of this program for all bands that follow.
This week, we celebrate our work, our band, our school, our community, and our state and represent on a level that makes everyone proud. We are the ONLY band in the Philly Parade this year from New Jersey - THAT IS A BIG DEAL!!! In parades, there is a new audience every step, every block. They will hear you before they see you, and as soon as people hear/see the "K" of Kingsway, they will be proud to know you. This weekend, the band will perform for thousands lining the streets of Philly, Swedesboro, and Logan, and thousands more watching TV on Thanksgiving. Work together and make'em proud. Don't take a single moment for granted!

NEW THIS YEAR: PHILLY THANKSGIVING PARADE BAND CAM
To ensure all bands can be seen performing, 6ABC will have a brand new stream specifically dedicated for bands - this will be a wide camera shot that runs throughout the parade!

The fine print: The Philadelphia parade committee and 6ABC make no promise that each element of the parade will be granted air time [on the TV broadcast]. Every effort is made to include all entries of the parade on TV as well as in the live stream, but this is not always possible with live television (an actual lawyer prepared that statement).

This Week's Schedule
Tuesday, 11/26: after school rehearsal, 6 PM pickup
*LUGGAGE DROP OFF: 6-6:15 PM
*Please note that space is limited on the bus - try to cut down on the size of the bags you choose for your luggage and the amount of things you bring. We are only staying over for one night! (like 7 hours!) Pack efficiently!
If you have any snack preferences/specific dietary needs for when you are in your room, make sure to bring these with you!
Wednesday, 11/27: Half Day of School, Dave & Busters, Hotel
HS Dismissed at 11:59, MS Dismissed at 12:10
*LUGGAGE DROP OFF #2: 3:15-4 PM
After school - Lunch (bring)
1:30 - Final Parade Rehearsal around MS
3:15 - Pack Equipment - Check Uniforms/Garment Bags
4:00 - Load Buses (5)
4:30 - Depart for Dave & Buster’s
5:30 - Dave & Buster’s Dinner and Arcade time - game card included in trip, but bring extra money for extra arcade time
8:00 - Load Buses and travel to hotel
8:30 - Check into Sheraton - Center City
10:00 - Room Checks/LIGHTS OUT
Thursday, 11/28: Thanksgiving Parade Day!
*VisitPhilly website for parade info, including parade route (JFK Boulevard/Ben Franklin Parkway)
5:00 AM - wake up call/Breakfast Buffet in Hotel (provided)
6:00 AM - Check Out begins (DRESS IN UNIFORM)
6:30 AM - In Seats!
6:45 AM - Buses depart for Parade Assembly Area!
7:00 AM - Unload buses and line-up/warmup
7:30 AM- Band in position for parade!
8:15am - Parade Steps Off!
Parade ends behind the Art Museum and our buses will be on Sedgley Drive.
Any parents picking up students should be ready to pick-up students quickly!
12:30 PM - Estimated student pick-up time at Kingsway HS!
Saturday, 11/30: Swedesboro Christmas Parade - 1pm step off
Route: Kings Highway from Walter Hill to Trinity Church
10:45 AM - Report, Dress into full uniform & decorate instruments
11:30 AM - Load Buses (4) and depart (no garment bags on buses)
1:00 PM - Parade Steps Off - we are the last element of the parade before Santa!
2:30 PM - Estimated Dismissal
Sunday, 12/1: Secret Santa & Logan Holiday Parade/Tree Lighting - 5 PM step off
Route: Moving West on Main Street stopping at Logan Municipal Hall
1:30 PM - Secret Santa Party in HS Cafeteria
3:15 PM - Dress
3:30 PM - load buses (4) and depart (no garment bags on buses)
5:00 PM - Parade Steps Off - Band plays for tree lighting at end of parade
6:15 PM- anticipate departing for Kingsway
WHEN WE RETURN - all uniform parts placed in bags for dry cleaning!
7:00 PM - ESTIMATED DISMISSAL. SEASON COMPLETE.
Save the date - Marching Arts Banquet to be held on Saturday, 5/10/25! Details TBA.
