Prom and After-Prom

Ralston Valley's Student Government is hosting Prom this year at Wings Over the Rockies. The Dance runs from 8:00-11:00 p.m. on April 16.

Students that are planning on bringing a guest that do not currently attend Ralston Valley, must return a signed Guest Form to the Main Office by Thursday, April 14th. These forms are available in the Main Office.

We recognize that this is a busy weekend for many of our families. In order to fulfill our contract from the Spring of 2020, we were tied to this location and the third Saturday of April. This was not a holiday weekend in 2020. Thank you for your understanding.

Every year, the PTSA at Ralston Valley High School hosts a SAFE and FUN After-Prom party for all students who attend the RV Prom. The After Prom Party is at Adventure Golf and Raceway! The Golf Courses, Bumper cars, and Raceway will be open, we will also have a D.J. and amazing prizes. This event is 100% paid for by the PTSA and is only possible with your support. Below you will find a link to a sign genius for items we need the night of, as well as donation slots for prizes for the students and a place for a donation to help cover the cost of After Prom.

In years past we have been able to raise most of our funds by flocking, (flamingos placed in yards asking for donations) however with the high winds lately and porch pirates we are not able to continue with that tradition this year. We would appreciate your financial support to help make this event possible. You can make a secure donation through www.zellepay.com the email for our account is rvptsa@gmail.com or https://rvptsa.digitalpto.com click on “Join PTSA” & that will open the link for donating to After Prom.

Dress Code

As the warmer weather approaches, we would like to take this opportunity to remind our community of our school dress code. Ralston Valley places a tremendous emphasis on academics, and we feel it is critical to keep a learning environment that promotes safety and professionalism. We feel that dress is a form of self-expression, and know that different environments are appropriate for different types of dress. Please remind your student to keep their attire professional while at school by following our school dress code. For specific details or questions, you can visit our school handbook, contact our Dean, Mrs. Nigut, or speak to your student's grade level administrator.

athletics

Our final signing day of the year will be on April 13th at 1:30 p.m. in the auditorium. To be included in the ceremony, student-athletes must report to Mrs. Beauchamp before the end of the day on Monday, 11th.

Congratulations to our boy's swim and dive team who won last Saturday's relay meet at Meyers Pool. The Mustangs finished with a 40 point spread over 2nd place Chatfield. Wins in the 200-yard medley relay, as well as the 200 back and 500 crescendo highlighted a great meet.

Our girl's lacrosse team is still two weeks away from league play, but has been battling a number of non-league opponents as the weather has improved. The varsity earned their first win of the season last Saturday against Cheyenne Mountain. The back and forth game came down to the wire ending in a 10-9 Mustang victory. The JV team is undefeated on the season with four wins!

Boys lacrosse is now 4-2 on the season. Tonight's game at Fairview is the first of three league games over the course of next week.

The Mustang girl's soccer team has yet to allow a goal this season and sits at 4-0 with their next non-league game this Saturday on the turf at RVHS. The boy's and girl's soccer teams are sponsoring a ball drop fundraiser following the 3:00 p.m. varsity game. More information is below on the event. This week the JV team won 6-0 in their third shutout of the year and the Level III team also shut out East, winning 1-0.

The girl's golf team had their first league tournament of the year in on Tuesday finishing 3rd at Willis Case. Thursday's tournament was canceled due to weather. The girls will not be back on the course until next week.

Last weekend the Varsity 2 tennis team traveled to Centaurus and placed 3rd as a team. The girls also looked great against Arvada West and Lakewood in league matches this week.

We are so proud of the track and field team! They took 1st in the Arvada City Championships this past weekend with strong finishes by both the girls and the boys teams. Especially impressive results came from our jumpers and throwers including a 1st place finish in the long jump and a sweep in the discus. Senior Giana Kirking was selected as the 9News Athlete of the week with her wins in three sprinting events: the 100, 200, and 400.

Congratulations Winter Guard!!!

Ralston Valley's Winter Guard finished 4th in the State of Colorado at last weekend's State Competition. This caps off a successful return to Winter Guard Competition for the Mustangs.

Congratulation to students; Kianna Wheelwright, Miley Hearne, Olivia Uribes, Maggie Smith, Avery Thornton, and Teagan Woodward. Hats off to Leo, Holly, and Katie for coaching them up!!

African Feast in French 4

French 4 students ended their study of French-speaking Africa by sitting on the floor and enjoying a feast. Every student researched and prepared a dish from a francophone African country. (Blake´s peanut soup was a huge hit!) Earlier, students looked at African tribal masks and studied a poem about the importance of masks to certain cultures. They then chose one that spoke to them and decorated it. Each student then presented their mask to the class, describing in French how the mask made a connection to their lives.

Business and Marketing at Freedom Street Social

Business & Marketing students attended a field trip to the under-construction Freedom Street Social dining and event venue located in Arvada, CO. Students met with business owners and gained insight into topics including business investment, promotion, product strategy, construction, and entrepreneurship. Students will make a return visit in May to view the project and speak with owners as the project grows closer to completion and opening. Thank you Amy and Nick!!!

German Club

Following German traditions, Deutschklub decorated Easter eggs this week and hung them on the Osterbaum (Easter tree).

The Ralston Valley Choir performed together with our Chamber Orchestra on Thursday night for this year's Annual Great Works Concert. Congratulations on a great event.
