Make-A-Wish Week

Dear Ralston Valley Community,

This year we are continuing our tradition of “Wish-Week,” (February 3rd - February 11th) which is the event responsible for raising a total of $192,628.94 for the Make-A-Wish Program from the generous donations of our student body, staff and outside sources in previous years. The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a program devoted to supporting children diagnosed with life threatening diseases, granting a wish of their choosing. We will be raising money in the name of an eleven-year-old named Cody and children like him. Cody has been diagnosed with preleukemia. Our goal this year is to raise over $10,000 to celebrate our 10th year supporting Make-A-Wish. Because of the circumstances we find ourselves in, 90% of our fundraising efforts will be virtual, so please check out our Make-A-Wish Website (which can also be found on the RV Homepage) to get all the details of our Amazing Week and make direct donations to the variety of events we have planned. In addition, here is a summary of our events: Calendar of Events

Below are some fundraising events you and your family will not want to miss:

  • Silent Auction - Thanks to the donations of several community members and businesses this Silent Auction will not disappoint with several Vacation Packages, Restaurant Nights and Community Artwork just to name a few items up for bidding.

  • Community Restaurant Nights - One of the easiest ways to support RV’s Make-A-Wish efforts is to eat at our designated restaurant nights throughout the week. RV will get a portion of the proceeds from each restaurant:

  1. Sunday, February 7th - LotOne - Brunch: 9AM - 2PM - Dinner: 4PM-9PM

  2. Monday, February 8th - Panera (64th and Yank) - 4PM-9PM

  3. Tuesday, February 9th - Abo’s Pizza (Delivery and Takeout) - 4PM-9PM

  4. Wednesday, February 10th - Dairy Queen - 5PM-Close

  5. Thursday, February 11th - Firehouse Subs (Both Arvada Locations) - 4PM-9PM

If you have any questions or concerns please contact Jenny Braketa at jenny.braketa@jeffco.k12.co.us

Thank you in advance for your generosity,

Ralston Valley Student Government

Adopt the Class of 2021

Ralston Valley is asking for community support to help us celebrate ALL Seniors in the Class of 2021 this spring! We know that COVID health guidelines and protocols will prevent this spring from looking like a traditional final semester of a student's high school experience. Since activities are dictated by changing health protocols and guidelines, we understand that many spring events are still to be determined. Regardless, we want to celebrate the Class of 2021 and send them out with all the pomp and circumstance they deserve! We are looking for your ideas on how to recognize our students prior to graduation.

Members of National Honor Society, Student Government, Ralston Valley’s Staff, PTSA, and Administration have already committed to helping the cause. We also need you!!

Whether you are a member or not, please join us to generate ideas at the next PTSA meeting (details below). This group will help us organize and carry out events to support our Seniors throughout the rest of the year.

Ways to get involved in celebrating the Class of 2021:

  • Donate your thinking. Join us on February 2nd @ 6:30 pm during our PTSA meeting to help us brainstorm ideas and develop an action plan. Please fill out this form to receive the Meeting Link.

  • Donate your time. As we plan events, we will provide specific opportunities to get involved through the Principal’s Newsletter and Social Media. This might look like creating gift/care packages or delivering them to individual houses.

  • Donate your money. PTSA will be accepting donations to help purchase gifts, supplies, and offset other costs associated with other senior events. You can donate by clicking HERE (Please select the General Fund to donate to this event).

Ralston Valley is committed to making every Senior graduate feeling honored and cared for. Please join us in making a positive impact on our seniors lives.

Information on Meal Service

In-person, hybrid learning resumed Monday, January 25, 2021.

Remote distribution sites and mobile delivery sites have closed

  • Students attending in-person, hybrid schedule access meals at their home school site on school's meal schedule.

  • 100% remote learners access meals on Tuesday and Thursday (5 Total Day of Meals) at home school site.

  • In-person, hybrid learners may pick up meals for the days not in school on second day of in-person learning on school specific schedule.

  • Younger children (not registered at school serving meals) may receive meals at their closest Jeffco school site.

  • Please review the entire information on the District flyer

Athletics

With the ice hockey team playing Standley Lake this afternoon, most of our CHSAA Season B sport programs have had at least one competition. I know the athletes are excited to be back on the court, the mat, the ice, and in the water! Our competitive spirit athletes are also practicing daily in anticipation of some competitions down the road. In addition, we received some good news this week when the District Cabinet voted to allow CHSAA Season C and D sports to begin off-season workouts in February on a limited basis.

Unfortunately, JCPH Department orders are still prohibiting spectators at CHSAA events in Jefferson County. With a NO SPECTATORS policy, the best way to watch the Mustangs compete in our gym is to use the FREE live streaming service that we will be providing for home (and many away) contests. On the school website, under the Athletics and Activities tab and the Athletics Website, you will find information on how to access the live streams from our gym. Go Mustangs!

Daniels Scholarship Finalist

Congratulations to Alexander (AKA Anders) Wolle for being selected as a Finalist for the prestigious Daniels Scholarship Program. Anders is a focused and hardworking Honors student both in and out of the classroom where he achieves an outstanding ranking with his 4.36 Weighted GPA, participates in several musical and theatrical activities, and completing several missions that included visiting Kenya and Uganda, and seeing third world countries first hand. While he is unsure of his exact path, music and choir has been a highlight to his education and Anders is looking forward to a career, possibly in music education, theater education or something in the youth pastoral field, where he can work to make a difference. We wish Anders the very best of luck as he goes into this final round of the best of the best.

The Daniels Scholarship Program (up to $100,000 over 4 years) provides a four-year college scholarship and mentoring that is unique to each student and offers the opportunity for highly motivated students to earn a bachelor’s degree that helps them build a successful career and rewarding life. Lessons Learned During Remote Learning

While we look forward to welcoming students back for hybrid learning, the reality is that all students will still be participating remotely at least a few days a week. With that in mind, we would like to share a few lessons learned from remote learning to help families better navigate the psychosocial aspects of this significant shift in learning environment. Click here for the flyer and more information.

Mental Health and Wellness

As a follow-up from our December sessions with Joy Wishtun, LPC, we will dig deeper around supporting resiliency in our kids. Joy will facilitate four separate sessions over Zoom, where she will focus on providing specific strategies around strengthening your child's resilience:

  • Early Childhood - February 10th at 5:00 pm

  • Elementary Age - February 10th at 6:00 pm

  • Young Adolescents - February 17th at 6:00 pm

  • Older Adolescents - February 17th at 7:00 pm

Each session will provide parents and caregivers an overview of skills to utilize with children in that developmental level, to build healthier, more rewarding relationships, and help your child’s resilience during challenging times and situations. These presentations will be interactive, so come ready to participate and play! Even if you didn't join us in December, please feel free to participate.

RSVP by February 7th to participate in a 45-minute session. You may attend more than one session, if you have children in multiple age categories. Click on the link below to register:
