LIZ GIBBS
Raising Student Confidence in Maths
National and International Maths Consultant
Mental mathematics is as important to mathematics as phonics is to literacy.
The recent pandemic has had a detrimental effect on children’s mental calculation skills and many current mastery schemes of work favour column methods.
At this workshop you will experience first hand, mental maths activities using common resources.
All the activities can be easily adapted for children across the primary age range and used in the classroom the very next day.
Session Outcomes:
Liz will also share the outcomes from her research.
She will also share key documents and all the activities used in the workshop via a QR code linked to a Padlet.
Learn about the benefits and impact that teaching mental maths and a daily 10 minute maths meeting has on teaching and learning.
