CINDY KAARDAL
Tech Integrator vs Tech Coach: Embracing the Coach Identity
American Community School of Abu Dhabi, K-12 Learning Innovation and Technology Coach
The session will show tech integrators how to empower their teachers through coaching cycles with a tech lens, rather than the traditional integrator role.
The audience is mainly for tech integrators/coaches/innovation leads/leadership/etc who want to use coaching cycles to empower teachers to use technology intentionally.
What happens when a tech integrator stops delivering one-size-fits-all tools and starts coaching for growth?
Technology integration is only part of the story - the real impact comes when we shift from “tech support” to true coaching experiences. This session will explore the differences in mindset between a tech integrator and a tech coach, the impact on teacher growth, and ways to connect EdTech support to deeper instructional goals.
We will examine a variety of research-backed coaching frameworks to consider how they can be applied in practice in our roles, creating more sustainable and meaningful professional learning.
Session Outcomes:
1. Understand the key differences between integrator and coaching roles in educational technology.
2. Explore approaches for applying a coaching mindset to technology integration.
3. Identify potential entry points for making shifts in your own professional context
