The world has changed since the creation of TABloid by Salma Tartoussi and Lizzie Sheehan, and so has the club.
Established in 2021, The TABloid was, and still is, a student-led publication that captures the student voice of the school. Whether it is interviews with teachers, student stories, or the latest on sports, music, TAB events, the TABloid always keeps the community connected.
“It’s nice to have a way that parents can connect with the community through a student voice,” Ava Puhlmann, editor-in-chief of the club, said. “You get a student perspective and a student insight from what happens at our school… Like what actually happens.”
Over the years, TABloid has covered a wide range of topics: from the retirement of teachers to fun articles about unique activities, this publication has it all. “The ranking caf food—that was good,” Ava recalled, “[And also] Mr. Sen-sational!, that’s our favourite title.” Mr. Sen-sational! is an article about Mr. Senaratne, a beloved math teacher, discussing his educational background.

Moreover, TABloid is a strong way to display students’ ability to create accurate, formal reports of current events. Writing an article and having it published is always the most satisfying feat to achieve. “It’s always nice highlighting students’ successes,” Senior Editor Madeleine Homer emphasized.
Beyond the articles, the club’s bloopers are also very entertaining. One time, during group editing, Carter Meadwell, a former writer and member at TABloid, mixed up two analogies, saying a teacher was “the glue to the path.” The mistake had everyone cracking up, highlighting the fun, supportive environment that makes TABloid unique.
To ensure that everyone stays connected, the club also shares its content across multiple platforms, including the school’s weekly newsletter and occasionally through the morning announcements.
While the faces in the club change over time, the club’s mission still remains the same: to offer a creative outlet for students, and to provide a space for them to share their unique perspectives. “There's not a lot of opportunity to hear a student voice…It’s really nice that we get to put something up there with our perspective,” editor Vanessa Vamvakaris said.
