While the parent-teacher interviews for the second semester were held on Thursday, March 27th, so was a fantastic, music-filled Coffee House. From 5:00 to 7:00 pm, T.A. Blakelock’s Music Department held a showcase in the studio theatre featuring a talented line up of singers and bands.

The first to enter the stage was Mr. Rochus, who sang Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard by Paul Simon and Weighty Ghost by Wintersleep. Shortly afterwards, the Junior Rock Band made their debut appearance with On Mercury by Red Hot Chili Peppers.
“I'm very happy that our band had the chance to perform! I want to say thank you to everyone who came and helped with the organization. I had so much fun,” said Grade 9 student Gosha Chmikhovskii.
Following the band, Lauren Silva sang a beautiful Riches to Rags cover by Waylon Wyatt as well as a cover of Stay by Rihanna, accompanied by Gloria Shi on the piano. Along with a fantastic music showcase, a bake sale was held in the front entrance with a variety of delicious cookies, muffins, lemon loaves, tarts, as well as complimentary tea and coffee.

Filling the time in between performances, several board games borrowed from the library were set out on tables at the back of the theatre.
Audience members played group games and met new friends while enjoying performances. "I thought putting it in the theatre would be a bad idea, but after I saw the supply of good board games they got going on, I was hooked. [A] 10 out of 10 event, would Coffee House again!" exclaimed Patrick Muhleison
Concluding the evening, Coffee House hosted the Senior Rock Band & M7, a guest rock band from the Merriam School of Music, and finally jammed out to tunes by Nirvana, Green Day, Black Sabbath & many more.

“I’m so happy I attended Coffee House this year! It was super fun to hang out with friends, eat baked goods, and see some of the incredible live performances. I had a great time and am definitely coming again next year!” expressed Grace Tan.
