In a grand finale to their high school art careers, the Grade 12 Art class presented a culmination of their works in an art show open to the public. After working tirelessly over four years expanding their portfolios, finding their styles, and experimenting with forms of mediums, these artists came together on January 22nd, 2025 to present their pieces in the Studio Theatre.
Students, friends, and family on opening night.
Despite opening night taking place the evening before exams, the show was a huge success. Friends and family rolled in from around the region to take part in the event, and the crowd only increased throughout the evening. Artists provided snacks and refreshments for guests, which were enjoyed as the event went on.
While artists were encouraged to display pieces from home, previous years, and classes, the pièce de résistance was the students’ final performance task. Students were given the opportunity to choose a topic that interested them and then create three works that represented their theme. A few categories in the show included growth, capitalism, childhood, gothic fiction, love letters, and social media. Artists were encouraged to experiment with paint, pastel, pencil, clay, fashion, or any medium they felt best represented their topic.
Multi-medium displays by Sydney Pereira, Alba Munoz Sevillano, and Sam Polimac.
Among the displays, some artists chose to include interactive works with the audience. Guests could sit for a charcoal caricature and were invited to take the drawings home as a souvenir. One artist interpreted a poem in the form of a zine, printing enough copies for everyone to have their own. Another included his personal sketchbook, prompting viewers to flip through his drawings.

If any students were unable to make it to opening night, the gallery was left open in the Studio Theatre until exam review day. Curious students and staff popped in and out through their exams, admiring the various works. In case you were not able to attend, a few of the displays are pictured below:

The show was enjoyed by all who attended, with much positive feedback towards the art. “I couldn’t believe how talented the class is,” one parent raved.
For many students, this was their last chance to showcase their art in high school. Yet, we know everyone in the show will go on to do great things beyond TAB. The gallery was an eclectic display of artistry, individuality, and effort, and turned out to be a massive success. This is a testament to the talent of TAB, and the emerging artists fostered by our art program.
