On the bright morning of Friday, December 13th, 2024, T.A. Blakelock’s Jazz Band embarked on their tour to three different elementary feeder schools around Oakville. As an annual trip, the Jazz Band had a goal of promoting the enjoyment of music. With a setlist of six songs, the band was stoked to perform at their very first stop: West Oak Public School.
Kicking off with the show, the band played the quirky, Hog-Squealin', Rip-Snortin' Belly-Achin' Blues by Michael Sweeney, followed by Funk Tank by Lars Halle before taking a short break to answer the audience’s questions.

Afterwards, the band played Reboot by Vince Gassi and Holiday Joy arranged by Victor Lopez, a winter twist based on a well-known tune composed by Beethoven, Ode to Joy.
“I loved performing all over the schools, it was really fun. It’s always a great way to encourage next year's grade 9s to join our awesome music program, I can’t wait to tour again next year!” exclaimed Grade 11 trombonist Patrick Muhleisen.

Reaching the finale of their first concert, the band performed Work Song arranged by Terry White and ended with Nutcracker Rock arranged by Mike Smukal, two tunes previously heard at the Music Department’s Winter Concert.

After completing two shows at West Oak Public School and W.H. Morden Public School, the band took a break at a nearby plaza to eat and chat before leaving for their last stop, Pilgrim Wood Public School.
Concluding their annual tour, the Jazz Band had a blast performing at three schools and spreading their passion for music, creating a satisfying concert for the audience as well.
