Look at us! We are rapidly racing to the finish line of the school year! I can see how hard you have worked and are still working! Keep up the fantastic work. 👏
Milestones begin next week, and our mandatory testing meeting is on Thursday (4.23). Please make plans to attend. The "mock Milestones" will be on Monday (4.27), and testing for 5th-grade will begin on Thursday (4.30). This is a team effort, and these students are all of ours! We are cheering them on and wishing them the best as they work through each testing day!
Beth and I are working on Awards Day information that will come out soon. Just basic reminders of which awards each grade level will give, the order of ceremonies, and any other pertinent info. Don't forget that we started the Wildcat Award last year. This is for one girl and one boy from each grade level. It is a student who exemplifies the PAWS of Lanier. Please make sure you and your team are thinking about these students, and write a description of why the student was nominated; it will be read at the ceremony. 🎖️
Again, thank you for all you do on the daily! Please reach out if you have any questions.
Wow! We are in the thick of all the EOY assessments, and the grand finale (MILESTONES) is rapidly approaching. There is A LOT of information below. Take a few minutes to read it and write down the information on your calendar.
First off, please welcome April Chandler to Lanier as our Lunchroom Manager! She will be here for the remainder of the school year and is already off to a fantastic start. She is your point person for all things about lunch. She has received all the dates for our upcoming trips. Her email address is april.chandler@hallco.org. Be sure to say hi to her and introduce yourself 🙂
As Alli mentioned above, we will have our annual Testing Meeting on Thursday, April 23rd, and we will discuss procedures, protocols, test security, and ethics. The meeting will be in the Learning Commons at 2:35.
PLEASE MAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING CHANGES!!!
We will have our Mock Milestones Test day on Monday, April 27th. That means we will start the day just like it is a real testing day. Here is GMAS Connection Schedule we will run on Monday, April 27th, and May 4th-8th. We will follow the normal connection schedule on Thursday, April 30th, with only the 4th and 5th grade swapping times (4th Grade 8:55 and 5th Grade 9:50).
TO DO - ALL GRADE LEVELS: EOY Fact Fluency scores are due in Analytic Vue by May 13 - Directions for Analytic Vue
TO DO - ALL K-3rd Grades: All K-3rd students are to take the EOY Reading Fluency Assessment on Amira. After students complete the EOY assessment, teachers are to complete Columns P and Q (highlighted pink) on the Amira Tracking Sheet by Thursday, April 30th. All students who are red on the Benchmark Report and/or Yellow or Red on the Reading Risk report are considered At-Risk. You have to look at BOTH reports.
We will meet during your planning in the PL Room on Friday, May 1st, to generate letters and print parent reports.

Eureka2 routines are intended to keep kids thinking, solving, and sharing at all times. Choral response AND whiteboard exchange should have every kid solving each problem, every day. If you are concerned about timing choose only one fluency activity.

All students will need an updated QPA/QSA in grades K-3 by the end of the year. Only students in red/orange for 4-5.
Milestones Positive Affirmation Cards
Staff, please sign up to write a positive affirmation card for a 3rd-5th grade student! This is always such a sweet treat for all 3rd-5th graders to have a note from a staff member who loves them to open on the morning of the test. Please do not sign up for a child in your homeroom class. All students will get one so do not worry :)
They are due Monday, April 27th so we have enough time to sort and deliver them.
You can sign up HERE. They are organized by grade level and by teacher.

Lessons
THANK YOU for all of the grace that you have shown me this whole year but especially these past few weeks. This is the time that I really see things pop up which can impact my lesson availability. Guidance lessons are my favorite part of my job. Please know that when I miss or cannot make a lesson, that it KILLS me. And thank you for always being so understanding, compassionate, and kind to me!
I am continuing with:
Cooperation lessons right now for K-4th
Middle School Prep lessons for 5th
Milestone Prep lessons with Kate for 3rd-5th.
Clothing Closet
I have ZERO boys bottoms left. We are completely out of boys bottoms. If you have any gently used boys bottoms (sizes small, medium, large, x-large) that you would love to donate, please let me know. I will come pick them up from your house if need be.
We really need to get some boys bottoms in if possible, as soon as possible.
Brisk now exports quizzes as Canvas QTI files--a standard format Canvas can import directly into your course.
To generate a Canvas QTI quiz, open the Brisk Chrome Extension, go to Create → Quiz, and switch the output format to Canvas QTI using the document type icon next to the language dropdown. Fill in your quiz details, generate, review your questions, and click Download for Canvas.
Before you download, keep these in mind:
Keep all questions in multiple-choice format.
Each correct answer must have an asterisk (*) at the very start of the line — no space between the asterisk and the answer text. Canvas uses these to identify correct answers.
Do not unzip the downloaded file. Canvas requires it to stay as a .zip.
To import, go to your Canvas course Settings → Import Course Content, select QTI .zip file as the content type, upload your file, and click Import. If you see a "New Quizzes" checkbox during import, leave it unchecked unless your school specifically uses New Quizzes.
For full instructions and troubleshooting tips, see How do I create a QTI quiz?
Canva Video Training- TOMORROW- Wednesday, April 22
The district will not be renewing our WeVideo accounts. In its place plan to use the video editor in Canva or Adobe Express.
In preparation for this change please consider attending the Canva Video editing training via Zoom on Wednesday, April 22, 2:30-3:30 PM.
We will have the Canva Video Training up in the Learning Commons at 2:30-3:30pm if you want to join as a group.
