January has been a little different this year. I don't know about you, but with all of the weird weather days, I have had a little more time to stop and think. Sometimes extra think time can be a positive thing, and honestly, sometimes it can allow me to OVERthink things! Regardless, I have been blessed with the time and I have really tried to use it productively. I hope you have had a similar experience. đĄ
We are nearing the months of school that carry a lot of weight. February and March are very important in the lives of your students. They are months that for many, things start to click. They are also the months that if we don't keep the gas pedal down, we will lose some of them. I encourage you to prepare your mind and body for February and March. There is much to do, and together, we CAN do it!Â
Formative observations will begin soon. If you haven't signed up for yours, please do so HERE by this Friday (1/31). We will be leaving a TKES rubric along with a short questionnaire with you after each observation. You will be asked to think about the questions and do a self-assessment on the rubric, rating all 10 standards. You will then schedule a time to debrief with Beth or myself within 5 school days of your observation. I am excited about this time and I think it will allow for everyone (including Beth and I) to get some really good feedback. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. đ
Beth and I went yesterday to our allotment meeting with the Superintendent. It went well and I am excited about some changes for next year. While I am not totally ready to discuss EVERYTHING quite yet, I do want to announce that we will be adding a second AU transition class to LSi3. This will split Mrs. Lorenz's current class in to a K-2 class and 3-5 class. We will begin looking for a teacher for this class soon! If you, or someone you know, is interested, please reach out!
Thank you so much for all that you do! I promise that I SEE YOU and I appreciate you! Let me know how I can support you! â
What unpredictable weather we have had! Thank you for being so flexible during uncertain times. Please continue pressing towards those year-end goals and pushing those focus kids. We have lost some valuable instructional time so every minute will count, stay focused, and be consistent.
đFebruary is the month for the Read-Aloud Challenge 2025! Click here to see the calendar for ideas on encouraging your students and parents to participate in the challenge. There is also one in your box. It is meant for you to encourage your students to read and have fun while reading! Share any pictures of your kiddos reading in the month of February here so we can share out with parents. I would love to be a mystery reader in one of your classrooms so reach out if there is a day you want me. đ
K-3rd grades: Complete the Reading Fluency Spreadsheet with scores ASAP. Kate and I are looking over the data and compiling information for flagged students and preparing the Dyslexia Rubrics.Â
K-3rd grades: Meet in the Conference room on February 6 to create reading fluency letters with Kate, Kirby, and Beth
RTI/MTSS: We will meet on February 10 & 12, for Tier 3 meetings, the schedule is linked here. New students were added last round, so ALL teachers check the schedule. I will have parent invitations for you to send home this week. If your Tier 3 meeting is NOT during your connection time, coverage for your classroom will be provided.Â
On February 19, we will have Tier 2 meetings. Tier 2 meetings will be held in the grade chair's classroom. Â

Career Week will be March 17-20! The schedule is as follows:Â
Wednesday, March 19: Careers on Wheels for PK, K, 1st, and 2nd (time to be decided with team leads)
Thursday, March 20: Career Fair during Connections for 3rd, 4th, and 5th
It will be the exact set up as last year, so if you have any feedback from last year, please feel free to let me know! I am always wanting to change and grow, so let me know if I need to rethink anything or adjust.Â
My focus for the next few weeks will be administering the School Climate Survey to all 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. It should be done by 2/3/25 and then my hope is to get back into classrooms to do Emotion Lessons for all grade levels.Â
If you have any specific needs for classroom guidance, feel free to let me know.Â
If you are curious as to what lessons your class has already had, you can access my sign-up sheet at this link. Towards the bottom of the page is a tab that says "Past Lessons By Class" and looks like this:

I would like to have these by Friday January 31.
ClearTouch Updates & Trouble Shooting
Before leaving your room and each afternoon hit âMicrosoft + Lâ to lock your account. This closes your account so no one can use it while you are away. You will need to login the next morning.Â
Only use the rocker switch (the power button on the bottom of the panel near the power cord) when troubleshooting or when instructed by the county. Regular Updates are pushed to the ClearTouches but they need to be on to accept the updates.Â
Hovercam Flex 11 app:Â
If your Flex 11 app is requesting a password please let me know. I will need to get Zach to push it out to your micro PC again.Â
In the meantime while you are waiting for the Flex 11 software to be accessible, use your camera app for your Hovercam. If you open the app and itâs a black screen hit the camera flip icon in the top right corner and it will flip to your hovercam camera.

With all of the technology changes we have undergone in the last few years many of the traditional ways of watching videos have become obsolete. Likewise, utilizing personal streaming services are a violation of your user agreements and could possibly result in legal consequences. As a solution Hall County has purchased District Licenses to the SWANK Streaming Service...but that doesn't mean you can show any of the movies on the platform any time you like.Â
The movie policy is as follows:
Teacher completes the LSi3-HCSD Movie Approval Form
There are some movies not on SWANK that we will continue to stream school-wide (i.e. many of the Christmas classics).Â
Administrator approves
Teacher gives approved form to Media Specialist
Media Specialist submits a request to have the movie added to the district SWANK content
Media Services Coordinator approves the request
**No request submitted by a teacher will be approved.**
Movie is added to the district licensed contentÂ
Once a movie is approved for one school, it will be available
to all Hall County teachers. Being available in SWANK does not mean it is approved for all classroom use. Â
We are still required to get permission for students to view PG rated videos

The WIDA ACCESS Test is an annual assessment designed to measure the English language proficiency of English Language Learners (ELLs). It evaluates students' abilities in four key areas: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The results help teachers understand how well students are acquiring English and identify areas where additional support may be needed. Teachers use the test data to tailor instruction, set language development goals, and monitor progress over time. By tracking students' growth in language proficiency, the ACCESS test ensures that ELLs receive the appropriate support to succeed academically in English-speaking classrooms. The test domains will occur on different days- meaning that each ESOL student will take the listening part one day, reading another and so forth. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out to Julie or Kirby!
